Auto Scaling

Auto Scaling (AS) is a policy-based management service for auto-regulating elastic computing resources upon user's requirements. Using Auto Scaling automatically regulates the number of ECSs when services change, and timely responds to service changes and peak workload, saving resources and labor costs.

Product Advantages

Fully automated without manual operation

AS automatically adds and releases instances in real time based on AS policy, reducing the business impact caused by human intervention, errors and O&M. Users are not required to take manual intervention or create and release instances manually.

Cost saving with improved resource utilization

You are not required to reserve instance resources. When the workload reaches the preset value, AS automatically adds instances. When the workload falls, AS releases redundant resources in time. It ensures high availability, improves resource utilization, and minimizes costs.

Flexible policy to support various service scenarios

Users can flexibly configure AS policies such as alarm, timing and cycle as well as instance boundary value, expansion policy, availability zone (AZ), and instance specification to effectively meet the requirements of different business scenarios.

Real-time monitoring, ensuring service health and availability

It supports 24-hour uninterrupted health check and a multi-dimensional monitoring index system. Unhealthy instances will be automatically replaced by healthy ones with the same specifications in time. The number of healthy instances in service will not be affected. It could avoid service interruption, reduce service jitter, and improve user experience

Convenient audit and rapid and efficient troubleshooting

It supports CTS and automatic record of every scaling event and operation details, and could save operation records to ZOS in real time.

Diversified product mix and synergy to improve user experience

After ELB is configured, the traffic of Apps is distributed to all instances in the AS group.Alarm policy will be triggered when an alarm condition specified in Cloud Eye is met. According to the real-time status of the host, AS is realized.

Scenarios

< >
  • Periodic fluctuation scenario
  • Non-periodic fluctuation scenario
  • Scenarios with high availability
Pain Points
  • There are obvious peaks and valleys in a specific business period and scenario. If the peak value is taken as the standard, it will bring huge cost waste to be equipped with a large number of ECSs in advance.
Advantages
  • AS does not charge any fees and can be set by users for free. However, ECS instances in an AS group are charged based on relevant billing standards.
  • AS can not only scale up or down cloud resources in one AZ, but also be used across multiple AZs in the same region, supporting business deployment with multiple AZ resources.
  • AS automatically adds or removes ECS instances based on your preset rules without manual intervention and ensures the health and availability of ECSs.
