Note
Starting April 15, 2025, multicast-related fees will be charged. Please keep an eye on the official announcements on the eSurfing Cloud website.
Billing Instructions
Multicast is a network communication mode typically used when a server needs to send identical data packets to a group of clients (point-to-multipoint) simultaneously. Typical applications include live streaming, video conferencing, financial market data synchronization, remote education, and IPTV.
Multicast uses a pay-as-you-go billing model, allowing you to allocate and release resources flexibly, without upfront purchases. Pay-as-you-go is a postpaid model, meaning that services are used first before payment.
Billing Mode
Pay-as-you-go billing is calculated on an hourly basis, with each new billing cycle beginning after settlement.
The billing items include the connection fee and the traffic processing fee:
• Connection Fee: Charged based on the duration of usage and the number of VPCs attached to the multicast domain. Billing is on a hourly basis, with any usage under one hour charged as one hour.
• Traffic Processing Fee: Multicast traffic is divided into two parts: (1) Traffic sent from the multicast source in each multicast group. (2) Total traffic delivered to multicast members. Total traffic = (1) + (2), billed hourly.
Price Explanation
Both billing items are calculated hourly. Unit prices (same for nodes inside and outside the Chinese mainland) are as follows:
• Connection Fee: USD 0.048725/instance/hour
• Traffic Processing Fee: USD 0.018098/GB
Example:
Suppose you create a multicast instance "a" on March 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. and delete it at 11:40 a.m. the same day. ECS1 and ECS2 in VPC1 are part of two multicast groups (1 and 2) within instance "a". If the multicast source sends 1 GB of data to the multicast gateway, and the total traffic from the gateway to the members is 2 GB, the billing breakdown would be as follows:
Connection Fee: 1 instance*2h*USD 0.048725 = USD 0.09745
Traffic Processing Fee: (1 GB + 2 GB)*USD 0.018098 = USD 0.054294
Upgrading Rules
None. Specification change does not apply to pay-as-you-go.
Renewal Rules
None. Renewal does not apply to pay-as-you-go.
Unsubscription Rules
Multicast uses the pay-as-you-go billing mode. Billing stops immediately once the instance is deleted
Billing Method Changing
Only pay-as-you-go is supported. Changing the billing model is not available at this time.
Arrears and Freezing
If your account becomes overdue, the system will freeze your multicast instance, and traffic forwarding will be paused. You can either resume service after renewal or delete the instance to stop usage.
Note
After unfreezing, dynamic members must resend the IGMP join packet.
