Usage Restrictions

ENIs created in a PVC can join a multicast network only if they are bound to the cloud server.

•       If an ENI is removed from a VPC after being designated as a multicast member, the membership is automatically revoked. Only dynamic join is supported for ENIs (auxiliary NICs).

•       In cross-cloud scenarios, if both IGMPv2 and IGMPv3 are selected to join the multicast group, only IGMPv2 (*,G) reports are received.

        •      Multicast domains in the same region are not interconnected.

        •      One multicast domain is supported under one VPC.

        •      Multiple multicast groups can be created under a multicast domain, but each must have a unique IP address.

        •      Only the primary private IP of ENIs is supported for multicast, and other IPs are not supported.

        •      IPv6 multicast is not supported. Only IPv4 is supported.

•      Well-known multicast addresses (224.0.0.0–224.0.0.255, 239.0.0.0–239.255.255.255) are restricted and cannot be added. If your page does not support adding special entries for well-known multicast addresses, please contact support to open the trustlist.

Multicast resource quotas are as follows.

Resource

Quota   Increase

Max.   multicast domains per tenant

Prerequisites

1.    You have created an instance such as VPC or cloud server. A CDA is prepared for multicast on and off the cloud.

2.    You have configured the client-side route and the relationship between the cloud dedicated line and the VPC (only required for multicast on and off the cloud).

3.    Security groups allow multicast sources and port numbers corresponding to the multicast members.

Supported Resource Pools

Currently, only the "Hong Kong 2" resource pool in the overseas resource pool supports multicast functionality. Details are subject to the console display.
