Scenarios
You need to create a multicast domain to define a multicast network range. Only multicast sources and members within this domain can send and receive multicast traffic.
Prerequisites
Register an eSurfing Cloud account and complete real name authentication. For specific operations, please refer to eSurfing Cloud Account Registration Process.
Procedure
1. Log in to the Console.
2. Click on the upper left corner of the Console page and select the Region. HongKong2 is selected in this case.
3. On the system homepage, select Network and click VPC. Go to the Network console page.
4. In the left navigation bar, select multicast.
5. In the multicast operation page, click Add Multicast Domain in the details area on the right.
6. In the Add Multicast Domain dialog, configure the following information and click OK to complete creation.
Configuration Item | Note |
Multicast Domain Name | Enter the multicast domain name. |
Multicast Domain Source | Choose the multicast domain source from Cross-Cloud or Intra-Cloud. Only one can be selected at a time. Choose Cross-Cloud if the multicast source is connected via a dedicated line from an IDC server room. Choose Intra-Cloud if all multicast sources of the multicast domain are within eSurfing Cloud and none are in an IDC server room. |
Associated VPC | Select the VPC associated with the multicast domain. |
Member Join Method | Select the Member Join Method from Dynamic Join and Static Join. Only one can be selected at a time. For Dynamic Join, select the IGMP protocol based on the receiver app (IGMPv2 or IGMPv3; at least one must be selected). For Cross-Cloud multicast domains using IGMPv3, enter the SSM group address. The default SSM group address is 232.0.0.0/8. You can input a range, e.g., 225.0.0.0/24-225.100.100.0/24. Multiple IP addresses should be separated by ";". For Static Join, manually enter the multicast group address. Currently, only a single, unique address is supported. |
Description | Enter a description for the multicast domain. |
Note
1. Currently, static member join is supported only for the main NIC of the cloud server. The system will use the primary private IP of this NIC to receive multicast traffic.
2. Multiple NICs can be added to a single multicast group address.
3. The security group of the cloud server receiving multicast traffic must allow the ports and addresses of the multicast source.
4. Well-known multicast addresses (224.0.0.0–224.0.0.255, 239.0.0.0–239.255.255.255) are restricted and cannot be added. If your page does not support adding special entries for well-known multicast addresses, please contact support to open the trustlist.
