Preparation
· Create an account and enter account information. This tutorial guides you to create a pay-as-you-go instance. Your eSurfing Cloud account balance (that is, cash balance) must not be less than 100.00 RMB when you want to activate the pay-as-you-go ECS instance. For more information on topping up, see Billing Center > Account Recharge.
· Optional: When creating an elastic cloud server, if your account has not created a VPC in the local region, eSurfing Cloud will provide a default VPC. If you do not want to use the default VPC, you can create a VPC in the local region. For more information, see Virtual Private Cloud > Create a VPC and a Subnet, and Build a Private Network.
Procedure
Step 1: Go to the "Create a Cloud Server" page
On the homepage of the eSurfing Cloud portal, click Console, enter your username and password.
Click Service List > Elastic Cloud Server.
Click Create a Cloud Server. The system goes to the creation page.
Step 2: Basic Configuration
Select Billing Mode.
· Yearly and monthly subscription: A prepaid method. This mode is generally suitable for fixed business applications, such as web services. You must pay the resource bill in yearly and monthly subscription mode before you can start using the resource.
· Pay-as-you-go: A postpaid method. This mode is generally suitable for applications with additional business needs, such as, temporary expansion or testing. You can first activate and use the pay-as-you-go resources, and your costs for the resources will be accordingly deducted from your account in each settlement period.
Select Region and Availability Zone. Here we select Hong Kong (China) 2.
Set Instance Name in a length of 2 to 63 characters.
Set Server Name in a length of 2 to 15 characters. The name can contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens (-). Do not start or end with hyphens (-), use hyphens (-) consecutively, or use numbers only.
Select CPU Architecture.
Set Specification and Image
Specification | Image | Remarks |
GPU cloud server of image acceleration basic type | Select Image Type as Public Image and select the desired Windows operating system and version. The public image is installed with the GRID driver and supporting license by default. | For more information on driver version, see NVIDIA Driver Installation Guide - GPU Cloud Server - User Guide - Install NVIDIA Driver - eSurfing Cloud (ctyun.cn). |
Set Storage. Disks include system disks and data disks. You can add multiple data disks to a cloud server. The default size of a system disk is 40 GB.
Step 3: Network Configuration
Set the network, including VPC, security group, and NIC.
Parameter | Description |
VPC | The cloud server network uses the network provided by a virtual private cloud, including subnets and security groups. You can choose to use an existing virtual private cloud network or click Create in Console to create a new virtual private cloud. |
Security Group | Security groups are used for access control of cloud servers within and between security groups to enhance the security protection of cloud servers. Users can define various access rules in a security group. Cloud servers added to the security group are protected by these access rules. You can select multiple security groups when creating a cloud server. In this case, the access rules of the cloud server are the union of several security group rules. Note: If you want to connect to the Windows-based cloud server through the remote desktop, add the following rules to the security group Direction: Inbound Protocol: TCP Port range: 3389 If you want to connect to the Linux-based cloud server through SSH, add the following rules to the security group Direction: Inbound Protocol: TCP Port range: 22 If you want to ping the cloud server address, add the following rules to the security group Direction: Inbound Protocol: ICMP Type: Any |
NIC | Add a primary NIC, using the existing Intranet IP Address or automatically assigned IP address. |
EIP | Bind a cloud server to an elastic IP so that the cloud server can communicate with the Internet using a fixed Internet IP address. You can choose one of the following three methods as needed: Not use: The cloud server cannot directly communicate with the Internet and can only be used as a cloud server for deploying applications or clusters in a private network. Automatically assign: Each cloud server is automatically assigned an elastic IP that has exclusive bandwidth. The bandwidth value can be set by you. Use existing: Assign an existing EIP to the cloud server. When an existing EIP is used, you cannot create cloud servers in batches. |
Step 4: Advanced Configuration
Set Login Mode and create a password or key pair.
· Key pair: A key pair is used as the authentication mode for cloud servers. You can use an existing key or click View Key Pair to create a new key. Note: If you choose to use an existing key, ensure that you have obtained the file locally; otherwise, you may not normally log in to the cloud server.
· Password: Set an initial password as the authentication mode for cloud servers. In this case, you can log in to the cloud server with username and password. In the Linux OS, the password is the initial password for the root user, and in the Windows OS, the password is the initial password of the administrator user. The strength of a password must meet the following requirements:
Parameter | Rule |
Password | 8 to 30 characters. It must contain three of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters ()`~!@#$%^&*_-+={}[]:;'<>,.?/. The password must not start with a slash (/). |
Select Cloud Server Group.
Select User Data as the configuration mode (this feature is supported in some resource pools).
Click Next to confirm the configuration.
Step 5: Confirm Configuration
On the Confirm Configuration page, check the configuration details of the cloud server.
Enterprise Project: An enterprise project is a unit that classifies and manages multiple resource instances. Resources and projects in different cloud service regions can be grouped into one enterprise project. An enterprise can place related resources in the same enterprise project for management and migrate resources among enterprise projects according to different departments or project teams.
Set Purchase Quantity.
· Purchase Duration: You must set the purchase duration for "Yearly and Monthly Subscription". The duration least 1 month and at most 3 years.
· Auto Renewal: You can choose whether to enable auto renewal for "Yearly and Monthly Subscription". For monthly subscription, the auto renewal cycle is 1 month, and for yearly subscription, the auto renewal cycle is 1 year.
· Purchase Quantity: Set the number of cloud servers you want to buy. In order to ensure the proper allocation of all resources, if the number of elastic cloud servers you need exceeds the current maximum number you can by, you must submit a ticket to increase the quota. After the application is approved, you can buy your desired number of elastic cloud servers to meet your needs.
Agreement: Read and check to accept the agreement.
Click Buy Now after you check that the configuration is correct.
Click Pay Now to make payment. Then, you can create an elastic cloud server. After the elastic cloud server is created, you can view the elastic cloud server you created on the ECS details page.
