Bucket

Bucket is a container for storing objects in ZOS, and all objects must belong to a certain container. You can set and modify the properties of the container to control regions, access permissions, life cycle, etc. These property settings directly apply to all objects in the storage space. Therefore, you can flexibly create different containers to implement different management functions.

In ZOS, a bucket name must be globally unique and cannot be edited. That is, the bucket created by the user shall not have the same name as other created buckets. The region to which the bucket belongs cannot be edited after being created. Users can operate the bucket only if corresponding permissions are granted. This guarantees data security and prevents unauthorized access.

100 buckets can be created for one account. The total number and size of objects stored in a bucket are not limited, and users do not have to take into account data scalability.

Object

An object is the basic unit of data storage in ZOS. An object is actually a collection of data of a file and its related properties (metadata), and all data uploaded by users to ZOS are stored in buckets in the form of objects. Files can be texts, pictures, audios, videos, etc. Users can upload, download, delete, and share objects.

Region

Region refers to the physical location of the data center of ZOS. Users can choose appropriate regions to create buckets according to charges, request sources, etc. Generally speaking, a region closer to the user can be accessed faster.

A region is specified when a bucket is created, and cannot be edited once specified. All the objects in this bucket are stored in the corresponding data center, and the region cannot be set at the object level currently.

Access Key (AK/SK)

AccessKeyId and AccessSecretKey are your keys to access ZOS, through which ZOS will verify your resource request. You can view your key information on the ZOS Console.

Endpoint

Endpoint is an endpoint provided by ZOS for each region. It can be understood as the domain names of ZOS in different regions, and is used to process the access requests of their respective regions. Users can view the endpoint address of each region on the ZOS Console.
