With multi-version management, you can retain multiple versions of an object in a bucket, making it easier for you to retrieve and restore each version, and quickly recover data in case of unexpected operation or application failure.

Note: By default, the multi-version management function will not be enabled for a newly created bucket in ZOS. When uploading an object using the same name to the same bucket, the newly uploaded object will overwrite the existing object.

Enabling the Multi-version Management Function:

①　For newly uploaded objects, ZOS will automatically create a unique version number for each object. Uploaded objects using the same name will be saved in ZOS with different version numbers.

②　The version ID (empty) and content of the existing object in the bucket will not change. A new version number will be generated when you upload an object with the same name again.

Version	Descriptions
Latest Version	After multi-version control is enabled, if the object with the same name is operated for several times, the object will be saved with a corresponding version number for each operation. The version number saved in the last operation is the latest version.
History Version	After multi-version control is enabled, if the object with the same name is operated for several times, the object will be saved with a corresponding version number for each operation. Other saved versions are version history except for the latest one.

③　Listing the objects in the bucket will list the latest object and historical objects.

④　You can download the latest object or any historical object.

⑤　You can delete the latest object or any historical object.

Suspending the Multi-version Management Function:

①　Once the multi-version management function is enabled, it can't be disabled but only be suspended. After the function is suspended, the version number of a newly uploaded object is empty. If there is an object using the same name with an empty version number before, the object with an empty version number will be overwritten.

②　Historical versions will remain in ZOS. You can manually delete unwanted versions.

③　You can still download objects of historical versions.
