Overview
To ensure that users can obtain the latest content in different scenarios, eSurfing Cloud AccessOne EdgeTrans provides the refresh and prefetching feature.
Feature Overview
The refresh and prefetching module provides features for refreshing content, prefetching content, and viewing content refresh or prefetching tasks. The following table describes the features.
Feature | Description |
eSurfing Cloud AccessOne EdgeTrans supports the following content refresh methods: URL-based refresh, directory-based refresh, and regular expression-based refresh. These methods have different implementation mechanisms while they ensure that users can access the latest content. The refresh feature is often used to synchronize content from origin servers to the nodes after the content on origin servers is updated. | |
If you submit a prefetching task, the edge nodes are automatically triggered to request the latest content from your origin server and then cache the content. After the prefetching task is complete, the latest content is cached on the edge nodes. In this case, if a client requests the content from a node, the node returns the cached content to the client. This feature is often used to trigger CDN POPs to prefetch content before the release of popular files and major promotion activities. This feature can help reduce workloads caused by back-to-origin requests on your origin server, increase the cache hit ratio, and improve access experience of the first users after you release a popular file. |
