How do I use the instance list?

To help you manage database instances more quickly and easily, DMS provides the instance list function, which allows you to quickly access the database instances you need.

You can click the instance list on the menu bar to view all the instances for which you have permission. Or, you can click the Favorite tab in the instance list to view the favorite instances.

Details are as follows:

Click the Instance List menu, and click the Add and Favor button in the upper right corner of the Instance List page.

Click Data Source Management > Instance Metadata on the menu, and click image.png/image.png in the list on the Instance List page to favor an instance or cancel favoring.

How do I view or use the instance?

You can view the instances available for viewing or use on the following pages:

Click Data Source Management > Instance Metadata menu to view or use the instance.

Click the Instance List menu to view/use instances.

Click the Security Center > Team Management menu and toggle the Team Instance Management tab to view or use the instance.

It is important to note that DMS controls resource permissions to ensure data security, which includes organizational resource isolation and team resource isolation. You can obtain the viewing/using permissions using the following methods:

Join the organization and team where the instance is located.

Obtain data authorization for an instance. To perform this operation, the administrator or team administrator of the organization or team where the instance is located should go to the Data Source Management > Instance Metadata page and click the Data Permission Management button in the instance list.

How do I hide the instance address?

To better protect data security, DMS allows you to hide the instance address. After this function is enabled for an instance, the instance address and port are uniformly displayed as ***:*** on the DMS platform.

This function is only restricted to the administrators or team administrators. You can enable or disable this function in the following ways:

When adding a new instance: Check the Hide Instance Address option to enable the hiding instance address function.

Enabling/disabling the instance address hiding for existing instances: Click the Data Source Management > Instance Metadata menu, click Edit in the instance list to open the Edit Instance pop-up window, and check or uncheck the Hide Instance Address option.

What is the purpose of disabling instances?

By disabling an instance, you set the database instance to an unavailable state in DMS. When an instance is disabled, it is removed from the instance favorites. You will not be able to access and use the instance until it is re-enabled.

This function is typically used to temporarily restrict access to instances when performing maintenance, upgrades, or other operations to ensure data security and system stability.

The disabling/enabling instance function is restricted to administrators or team administrators only. Details are as follows:

Click the Data Source Management > Instance Metadata menu and click Disable Instance/Enable Instance in the instance list.
