Before logs can be collected, you need to create log projects and log units.

• Log project is the resource management unit for Cloud Log Service. You can use log projects to manage data in different applications, products, or projects. For each log project, you can create multiple log units, through which you can access Cloud Log Service resources.

• Log unit is the basic unit for collecting, storing, querying, and analyzing log data in Cloud Log Service. Each log unit belongs to a log project, and multiple log units can be created in each log project.

This section describes how to create log projects and log units in Cloud Log Service.

Before You Begin

• You have activated Cloud Log Service. For details, refer to Activating Cloud Log Service.

Procedure

• Log in to the Cloud Log Service Console.

• Create a log project.

• On the right side of the Overview page, click Create Project .

• In the project creation pop-up window, enter the name of the project. The project name is globally unique and cannot be modified after creation.

• Click OK to complete the creation of the log project.

• Create a log unit.

• In the Log Project area on the right side of the Cloud Log Service console overview page, select a log project and click on the project name, or click Log Project in the left menu bar, select a log project and click on its name to enter the Log Project page.

• Click the + button in the upper left corner of the page.

• In the log unit creation pop-up window, enter the name of the log unit and the log storage duration. Note that the log unit name cannot be modified after creation.

• Click Save to complete the log unit creation.
