The following describes hoe to collect cloud logs on a cloud server and ingest the logs to Cloud Log Service.

After the collector is installed on the target cloud server, you need to configure the path of the cloud server logs to be collected in the collection rules. The collector will collect logs to Cloud Log Service based on the collection rules.

Before You Begin

• You have created log projects and log units. For details, see Creating Log Projects and Log Units.

• You have an available eSurfing Cloud Linux cloud server activated that generates logs continuously.

Procedure

Under a created log unit, click Data Access .

• Select Cloud Server–Text Log as the ingestion method.

• Select cloud servers.

• Select New Host Group.

• In the list of activated cloud servers, select the target cloud servers on which you want to collect logs. The selected cloud servers will be packaged as a host group.

• Enter the host group name.

• Click Next .

• Install the collector.

• Before installing the collector, connect to the VPC where the cloud servers are located. In Step 1: Connect to VPC, select the VPC where the target cloud servers are located and click the Connect button. Wait for a while, and make sure that the VPC is connected. If you cannot connect to the VPC, see Data Collection–VPC Connection Failed in the FAQs section to troubleshoot.

• Copy the collector installation command in Step 2 and execute it on the target cloud servers to install the collector.

After completing the installation, you need to check the status of the collector. In Step 3: Check Collector Status, click the Start Check button, wait a moment and check the collector status to ensure that the collector status on all the target cloud servers is displayed as connected. If you still cannot connect to the collector after multiple attempts, see Data Collection–The Connector Cannot Be Connected to My Cloud Servers in the FAQs section to troubleshoot.

• Click Next.

• To create a collection configuration, configure the parameters following the instructions below. After the parameter configuration is completed, click Next.

• In the query analysis configuration page, keep the automatically generated query analysis configuration, and click Next to complete the data access process.

Parameter	Description
Collection Rule Name	Name of a collection rule, which is unique within the associated log project.
Collection Path	Set the log directory and file name based on the position of the log on the server. For example, the log path in this case is /var/log/nginx/access.log.
Collection Policy	SelectFull.
Split Mode	For the delimiter mode of the raw logs,Single-line Full Textis selected for this case. For other splitting modes, seeLog Structuring Parsing.
