Mounting a CIFS File System to ECSs (Windows)

Application Scenarios

The CIFS file system does not support mounting on cloud servers using the Linux operating system. This section uses Windows Server 2012 Standard operating system as an example to describe how to mount a CIFS file system. For other versions, please refer to the following main steps to configure according to the actual interface.

Prerequisites

1.       You have created a VPC in the region where the operation is required. For details, see Creating a VPC.

2.       You have created an ECS under this VPC. The operating system is Windows Server 2012 Standard. For specific steps, see Creating an ECS.

3.       You have created an SFS under this VPC. The file system protocol type is CIFS. For specific steps, see Creating a File System.

Procedure

1.       Log in to the eSurfing Cloud Console. Click  in the upper-left corner of the console, and select a region.

2.       Select Compute > Elastic Cloud Server, go to the ECS page and find the row where the cloud server is located for performing the mount operation.

3.       Click Remote Login and use the VNC method provided by the console to remotely log in to the Windows ECS.

4.       Click the Windows button in the lower-left corner of the desktop, select this PC by right-clicking This PC, and select Map network drive...


5.       In the pop-up window, set the name of the drive letter and the folder for the drive (that is, the mount directory seen in the file system). The content of the folder is the mount address of the file system, which can be obtained on the file system details page. Check Reconnect at sign-in  to automatically mount the file system after the cloud server restarts. Click Finish when setup is complete.

6.       Click the Windows button in the lower-left corner of the desktop, click This PC, and the mounted file system appears at the network location. At this time, you can create, modify, or delete files like a general file system and construct your own file system.
