Scalable File Service

Example 1: Configuring a Capacity Utilization Rate Alarm

2024-09-11 07:32:13

Capacity utilization is the percentage of the used capacity of a file system to the total capacity. It is a crucial monitoring indicator for the file system as a storage product. It is recommended that you configure capacity utilization rate alarms for the file systems to prevent issues caused by low capacity from affecting service.

Constraints and Restrictions:

l  Make sure to activate the phone number and email of the alarm contact used in creating the alarm rules. Otherwise, the notifications may not be received.

Step I: Adding an Alarm Contact

Alarm contacts are used to receive alarm notifications for your prompt handling of alarm issues.

1.     Log in to the Console of the eSurfing Cloud official website, go to Management and Deployment, and click Cloud Eye.

2.     In the list on the left side of the Cloud Eye Console, click Alarm Service > Alarm Contact/Alarm Contact Group > Alarm Contact.

3.     Click Add Contact and enter the name and email address in the pop-up window.

4.     After successful addition, activate the email address of the contact.

Note:

Make sure to activate the email address of the contact. Otherwise, the notifications may not be received.

Step II: Creating an Alarm Contact Group

1.     Click Add Contact Group on the Alarm Contact Group tab.

2.     Fill in the alarm contact group name and description in the pop-up window and select to add Existing Contacts.

3.     Click OK to complete the addition of an alarm contact group.

Step III: Creating Alarm Rules

1.     Click the Alarm Service drop-down menu, click Alarm Rules, and go to the Alarm Rules console.

2.     Click Create Alarm Rule in the upper-right corner of the page.

3.     On the Create Alarm Rule page, set parameters according to the interface prompts. Refer to the figure below:

1)     Select a monitoring object based on the shown order.

       2) Select monitoring indicators.

 i.        Select Custom Creation in turn and select File system capacity usage as the monitoring indicator.

ii.        You can select different aggregated values as the indicator values such as the original value, average value, maximum value, and minimum value of the indicator. Then, set the monitoring threshold. The capacity utilization rate is measured in percentage. You can select 85%, 90%, or 95% as needed.

iii.        The polymerization cycle represents the period for calculating the aggregated value. For example, if you select the average value for monitoring with a 5-minute aggregation period, the system calculates the average value every five minutes as the monitoring value. If the number of occurrences is three times, it indicates that the aggregated value reaches the monitoring threshold three times, and an alarm is triggered.

iv.        By enabling Sending Notice, it means that you agree that the Cloud Eye of eSurfing Cloud sends you an alarm notification. You can select parameters such as the alarm contact group, trigger scene, or notification cycle according to your actual needs. For other parameters, see Creating an Alarm Rule. For more alarm functions, see Using Alarm Function.

       3) Rule information. You must fill in the name and description according to your actual needs.
