Instance Recycle Bin

2024-06-19 08:50:55

Once an RDS for MySQL instance is moved to the recycle bin, you can rebuild, renew, or destroy it in the recycle bin.

Scenario Example

1.If a user has an RDS for MySQL instance in Package Cycle mode which is frozen due to expiration, the user can renew and unfreeze the instance in the recycle bin within seven days.

2.If a user unsubscribes an instance, the instance will be moved to the instance recycle bin.

3.If a user pauses an instance for more than seven days, the instance will be moved to the recycle bin.

Constraints and Restrictions

Manually unsubscribed Payment by Volume instances and Package Cycle instances or expired Package Cycle instances will be moved to the recycle bin. An instance is not moved to the recycle bin in the following situations:

a.The instance is manually unsubscribed within seven days after it is created.

b.The instance is a read-only instance or a database proxy instance.

Rebuilding an Instance

Instances that are moved to the recycle bin can be retained for seven days. You can restore instance backups to a new instance through the Rebuild Instance function. After seven days, the instance will no longer remain in the recycle bin (backup data is cleared according to configuration).

² Note

Backup data created by an instance with Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) enabled cannot be used to rebuild the instance.

The minor kernel version of the rebuilt instance database must be the same with the original instance, otherwise, the instance cannot be rebuilt (If you need to rebuild an instance, please upgrade the minor kernel version of the original instance to the latest version before unsubscribing).

Procedure

1.Go to the MySQL Console.

2.Click the Recycle Bin button on the sidebar to go to the Recycle Bin.

3.Find the instance you want to operate and click the Rebuild and Restore button.

4.Jump to the new instance enabling interface, select the corresponding specifications, place an order, and finish the payment.

By default, the rebuilt instance is created in the same AZ as the original instance, with the same specifications.

Renewing an Instance

Once an RDS for MySQL instance is moved to the recycle bin, you can renew the instance according to your service requirements.

1.Go to the MySQL Console.

2.Click the Recycle Bin button on the sidebar to go to the Recycle Bin.

3.Find the instance that you want to operate and click the Renew button.

4.Jump to the Renew Instance interface, select the renewal type and other information, place an order, and finish the payment.

Destroying an Instance

Once an RDS for MySQL instance is moved to the recycle bin, you can destroy it.

Warning

Once an instance is destroyed, the data related to the instance is no longer retained, including regular data backups, archive backups, log backups, etc. Operate this with caution.

Log in to MySQL Console.

1.Go to the MySQL Console.

2.Click the Recycle Bin button on the sidebar to go to the Recycle Bin.

3.Find the instance that you want to operate, click Destroy Now, and click OK in the pop-up dialog box.
