This section describes how to modify the RDS for MySQL instance password.

Application Scenarios

In case of a potential leak of the instance administrator password, you can quickly modify the password on the Console.

Prerequisites

The instance status is Running.

Restrictions

• Do not perform this operation on restoring instances.

• Please ensure that the mobile phone number bound to the account is capable of receiving text messages.

• The verification code is valid for five minutes.

• The verification code is invalidated within ten minutes after three failed attempts.

Procedure

Log in to the Console.

In the upper left corner of the Console, click

 and select Region and Project.

Select Database > Relational database... Go to the Relational Database Information page.

On the Instance Management page, select the target instance, click the instance name, and go to the Basic Info page of the instance.

In the Administrator Account Name bar, click Modify Password.

Enter a new password and confirmation password in the pop-up box, and click OK.

• The password must consist of 8 to 26 characters and contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters ~!@#%^*_-+:,.?/{[]}. In addition, the password must conform to the password rules you set.

• The new password and confirmation password must be the same.

• After the password is reset, the instance does not restart and permissions do not change.

In the pop-up box, you will be prompted with the bound mobile phone number. Click Obtain a Verification Code, and the sending state and validity period of the verification code will be prompted.

Enter the correct verification code information from the mobile phone text message in the Verification Code bar, click OK, and submit the change.
