[Change] Closure of Object Storage Backup Option for MySQL Database in Hong Kong 2 Resource Pools Effective June 13, 2025
This page explains the removal of the object storage backup option for the MySQL database edition, detailing the reasons, recommendations, and impacts.
Reasons
To provide enhanced and improved backup services, an architectural upgrade is required for the object storage backup type. The MySQL database edition will discontinue the option to select object storage backups for new instances in the Hong Kong 2 resource pools, effective June 13, 2025.
Impacts
Affected Resource Pool: Hong Kong 2.
Affected Instances:
New instances: After June 13, 2025, object storage backup will be unavailable as an option. You may choose cloud disk backup instead.
Existing instances: Instances purchased before June 13, 2025, can continue using features related to object storage.
Functional Impacts:
New instances ordered after June 13, 2025, cannot access functions dependent on object storage.
Existing instances retain full access to all object storage-related functions.
Recommendations
For new instance purchases, select cloud disk backup. You can choose from disk types including Generic SSD (specific options displayed in the console).
Users are advised to appropriately increase their backup disk space according to their business data volume. Alternatively, after instance activation, you may expand space as needed through the Backup space Scaling in the console interface to meet backup requirements.
