Why are my RDS for MySQL instance resources released?
After you purchase the eSurfing Cloud product, if your account is in arrears and you fail to renew or top up your account in time, the instance will be frozen and enter the retention period. The service will be stopped during the retention period.
If your account is still not renewed or topped up after the retention period expires, the instance enters the de-registration process. The data stored in the cloud service will be deleted and the resources occupied by the cloud service will be released.
Why are my RDS for MySQL instance resources frozen?
Your resources may be frozen for several reasons. The most common reason is that your account is in arrears or expires.
In arrears: If Payment by Volume resources fail to be billed due to deduction failure, the instance service will stop, and the system will freeze the resources occupied by the instance.
Expiration: If you fail to renew after the Annual/Monthly Package instances expire, the instance service will stop, and the system will freeze the resources occupied by the instance.
Can I still back up data if my RDS for MySQL instance resources are frozen?
No. If your RDS for MySQL instance is frozen due to arrears or expiration, you need to renew and unfreeze the instance first before backing up data.
How do I unfreeze frozen database resources?
You can unfreeze your frozen instance by re-subscription and renewal to restore its use.
Database instances frozen due to arrears can be renewed and unsubscribed. Database instances frozen due to expiration can be resubscribed and unsubscribed. For unexpired database instances, you can manually unsubscribe them.
What happens when my database resources are frozen, unfrozen, or released?
It depends on different situations:
• After your resources are frozen: They cannot be accessed and used, causing interruption of ongoing business. In addition, the database instance cannot be connected to. When your database resources are frozen, no changes can be made. However, you can unsubscribe from them manually.
• After your resources are unfrozen: You can use them again.
• After your resources are released: The instances will be deleted.
How do I renew my instance?
After a yearly/monthly database instance expires, you can renew it on the Instance Management page of the Console. For detailed operations, see Product Renewing and Unsubscribing in the Billing Instructions.
Can my resources be restored after they are released? Can I retrieve them if they are unsubscribed by mistake?
If your database resource expires or is unsubscribed, you can rebuild it from the recycle bin backup (if available). Otherwise, released resources cannot be restored.
Unsubscribed database resources cannot be retrieved. Please confirm the relevant information carefully before unsubscribing from the database resource.
Why is my RDS for MySQL instance still billed after being stopped?
After an RDS for MySQL instance stops, the virtual machine (VM) and the storage resources occupied by the data are no longer billed. Other resources, including Elastic IP (EIP), storage resources used for backup, and database proxies are still billed.
How do I delete an RDS for MySQL instance?
A database instance not running (such as creating, restarting, scaling, parameter setting, and backup restoration) cannot be deleted, and only running database instances can be deleted.
To delete your database instance, you can go to the Console and unsubscribe from it. For details, see Product Renewing and Unsubscribing in Billing Instructions.
