Migration Evaluation
1. Before using the CMS, you must know about the business systems to be migrated. If business systems, resource types, and resources are large in quantity and complex, we recommend that you use the resource planning and management function of the CMS. If few resources are involved, we recommend that you use a migration tool directly.
2. Cost analysis: After starting to use the CMS, if business systems and resources are complex, you can analyze the total cost of ownership, conduct statistics on various resources on the source side, analyze the bills of cloud services and cloud resources on the source side, and evaluate the total cost of ownership based on the eSurfing Cloud product prices. This helps users optimize resource allocation and reduce the total cost of ownership.
3. Resource management: If you have preliminarily understood the source side, after deciding whether to perform cost analysis, you can use the resource management function to investigate the service system and resource information on the source side. For Alibaba Cloud users, it automatically collects information about servers, databases, middleware, and storage. For users of other cloud vendors or a local IDC, a standardized survey template is available for you to import resource information.
4. Topology analysis: After investigating the source information, you can customize the topology of the surveyed resources, including elastic cloud servers, databases, and ZOS, on the Resource Management page. In addition, information such as the migration plan can be linked in the topology to help you organize resources to be migrated to detail the migration plan.
Resource Planning
1. Create a migration group: You can create a migration group after confirming that the survey information on the source side is correct. You can select desired servers and database resources from the resource list to form a custom migration group. This helps users to manage resources to be migrated and also provides strong support for the execution of a migration plan.
2. Create a migration plan: After creating a migration group, you can create a migration plan. After selecting a migration group and confirming the included resources, you can comprehensively evaluate the resources to be migrated, and based on this, develop a reasonable migration plan to effectively control the migration process.
3. Resource matching: After creating a migration group and a migration plan, you can use the resource matching function to match and compare the usage details of elastic cloud servers, databases, and object storage resources on the source and target sides in the resource details.
4. Create resources: You can create target resources in batches based on the migration plan and then combine the resource matching function to quickly and flexibly create and manage various computing, network, and storage resources in the cloud migration service, providing support for subsequent migration plans.
Migration Management
1. Tool management: After resource planning is complete, you can go to the tool management module to select a proper migration tool based on the type of resources to be migrated or the migration plan. These tools include server migration services, database migration services, data migration services, and Huawei ExaGear and DevKit heterogeneous migration tools. By selecting an appropriate tool, you can perform migration operations more easily.
2. Scheduling management: After selecting the desired migration tool, you can go to the scheduling management module and use the scheduling function to create a scheduling task and manage the migration service.
3. Progress dashboard: After starting to execute the specified migration plan and scheduling task, you can view and monitor the status of various resource migration tasks on the progress dashboard module to understand the progress of migration tasks and guarantee smooth migration.
4. Migration report: After completing various migration tasks, you can view and generate the migration report of a specific migration task in the migration report module.
