Steps
CMS mainly includes three steps, that is, migration evaluation, resource planning, and migration management.
Migration Evaluation
This mainly involves system migration, cost evaluation, resource management, and topology analysis, as shown in the figure.
System Migration
· The resource planning and management function is recommended for migrating multiple systems of different types.
· A proper migration tool can be used for migrating a single system or when few resources are involved.
Cost analysis
CMS provides comprehensive cost analysis for enterprise cloud migration, including migrating self-built IDC to the cloud and migrating to eSurfing Cloud from other cloud service providers. This feature is designed to help users or enterprises quickly implement eSurfing Cloud product mapping and cost analysis & comparison to compare the advantages and disadvantages of different cloud service providers from the perspective of cost, and then assist users to select cloud migration options that suit their needs.
Resource Management
CMS provides the resource discovery & management function to help users or enterprises quickly discover and collect resources. The CMS platform provides two collection modes.
· Online resource discovery
· Offline resource discovery
Topology analysis
After investigating the source information, users or enterprises can customize the topology of the surveyed resources, including elastic cloud servers, databases, and ZOS, on the Resource Management page. In addition, information such as migration plans can be linked in the topology to help users organize resources to be migrated to specify the migration plan.
Resource Planning
Resource planning in CMS refers to comprehensive resource planning work carried out before cloud migration starts. It aims to help users or enterprises rationally allocate and use resources and help reduce the threshold for migration. It mainly covers the following aspects:
The following figure shows the workflow to create migration groups, create migration plans, match resources, create resources, and conduct topology analysis.
Migration Group
Users or enterprises can create a migration group after confirming that the survey information on the source side is correct. Users can select desired servers, database resources, and ZOS from the resource list to form a custom migration group. This provides a new form for users to manage resources to be migrated and also provides strong support for the execution of a migration plan.
Migration Plan
After creating a migration group, users or enterprises can create a migration plan. After selecting a migration group and confirming the included resources, users can comprehensively evaluate the resources to be migrated, and based on this, develop a reasonable migration plan to effectively control the migration process.
Resource Matching
After creating a migration group and a migration plan, users or enterprises can use the resource matching function to match and compare the usage details of elastic cloud servers, databases, and object storage resources on the source and target sides in the resource details.
Resource Creation
Users or enterprises can create target resources in batches based on the migration plan and then combine the resource matching function to help users quickly and flexibly create and manage various computing, network, and storage resources in the cloud migration service, providing support for subsequent migration plans.
Migration Management
Migration management of CMS helps enterprises complete migration tasks. It mainly covers the following aspects:
The following figure shows the process for tool management, scheduling management, progress dashboard, migration reporting, and topology analysis:
Tool Management
After resource planning is complete, users can go to the tool management module to select a proper migration tool based on the type of resources to be migrated or the migration plan. These tools include server migration services, database migration services, data migration services, and Huawei heterogeneous migration tools. By selecting an appropriate tool, you can perform migration operations more easily.
Scheduling Management
After selecting the desired migration tool, users or enterprises can go to the scheduling management module and use the scheduling function to create a scheduling task and manage the migration service.
Progress Dashboard
After starting to execute the specified migration plan and scheduling task, users or enterprises can view and monitor the status of various resource migration tasks on the progress dashboard module to understand the progress of migration tasks and guarantee smooth migration.
Migration Report
After completing various migration tasks, users or enterprises can view and generate the migration report of a specific migration task in the migration report module.
