Using Backups to Restore an EVS

2024-07-30 06:42:44

Application Scenarios

In the event of EVS faults or EVS data loss due to human error, you can use the backup that has been successfully created to restore the data to the source EVS.

Note: After restoring the EVS data, the data at the time of backup will overwrite the EVS data. Once executed, it cannot be undone.

Prerequisites

l  The status of the EVS to be restored is Attached or Unattached.

l  The EVS to be restored has at least one Available backup.

l  If the EVS to be restored is attached with a cloud server, the attached cloud server must be shut down.

Constraints and Restrictions

l  VBS only supports the backup and restoration of the EVS as a whole, but cannot back up or restore specified directories or files in the EVS.

l  After reinstalling your operating system, the system disk backup cannot be used to restore data to the original EVS. However, you can create a disk and use it as a data disk.

Procedure

1.      Log in to the Console page.

2.      Click  in the upper left corner of the Console and select Region.

3.      Click Storage Console > Volume Backup Service to go to the Volume Backup Service page.

4.      Select the Backup Copy tab to view the existing backup copies.

5.      In the row where the backup copy you want to restore the EVS is located, click Operation > Restore Data.

6.      In the pop-up confirmation box for data restoration, click OK and start restoring data.

Note: This operation will overwrite the EVS data with the data at the time of backup. Once executed, it cannot be undone.
