Why Should You Back Up Cached Data?
l To avoid the risk of data loss caused by system faults: Computer systems may have a small probability of hardware faults, software errors or other technical issues, resulting in data loss or damage. If the cached data is not backed up, the lost data may not be restored in the event of a system fault, which may have a significant impact on your business. By backing up cached data, it provides a protection mechanism against data loss caused by system faults.
l To maintain data integrity: Caching data is often used to improve system performance and response speed, but not all data is written to permanent storage media in real time. If the cached data is not backed up, in some rare cases, the data may be lost due to system fault or other issues, posing a threat to data integrity. Backing up cached data provides an additional shield for data protection, ensuring data integrity and availability.
l Disaster recovery and restoration: Backing up cached data is a common disaster recovery and restoration policy. Backup cached data can be used to quickly restore the system in the event of a disaster, minimizing service interruption time. Backups can also be used for data migration, system upgrades, or other maintenance operations.
Backup Method
eSurfing Cloud DCS Redis provides two policies: auto backup and manual backup.
Auto Backup
Redis supports setting scheduled auto backup policies in the management console, and the backup cycle (days) and backup period can be set according to your actual needs. During the specified backup period, the cache data of the Redis instance will be automatically backed up and stored. The appropriate backup frequency can be set according to your actual business. For detailed operations, see Setting a Backup Policy.
Auto backup allows the Redis instance you purchased to always have a complete replica of the data. When necessary, the instance data can be restored in time to ensure data integrity.
Manual Backup
In addition to setting auto backup policies, you can manually back up data. Before performing high-risk operations such as business system maintenance and upgrades, it is recommended that you back up instance cached data to ensure data integrity. For detailed operations, see Backing up the Instance Manually.
On Backup and Restoration
You can view all backup data in the console and select the specified backup data to restore. For detailed operations, see Backup and Restoration.
