How Do I Subscribe to DCS Redis?
eSurfing Cloud DCS Redis currently supports pay-as-you-go and annual and monthly subscriptions. For details, see Creating an Instance.
When creating a DCS Redis instance, fees are calculated based on the instance specification and subscription duration. Annual/monthly subscription and pay-as-you-go billing methods are supported. For more information about billing methods, see Billing Modes.
The billing items for DCS are CT-DCS instances.
Billing Items | Description of Billing Items | Billing Modes | Billing Formula |
CT-DCS Instance | DCS Redis is billed based on the instance specifications you choose. | Annual/monthly and pay-as-you-go billing. | Instance specification unit price × subscription duration. For instance specification unit price, please see Buying DCS Redis. |
What Are the Application Scenarios of Redis?
Redis is typically used as a cache. When processing a request, the server first obtains the data from Redis, and then returns the data directly. If the requested data is not cached in Redis, the server gets it from the database and then stores it in Redis for future use.
Specific application scenarios include cache of hotspot data, time-limited services, counter, ranking and distributed locks. For details, see Application Scenarios.
What Billing Modes Are Supported by DCS Redis?
eSurfing Cloud DCS Redis provides two billing modes: pay-as-you-go and annual and monthly subscriptions. For details, see Billing Mode.
l Subscription-based (annual/monthly subscription): eSurfing Cloud provides monthly and yearly subscription models. This offers a larger discount than the pay-as-you-go mode, and is recommended for long-term users. The fees are billed based on your subscription cycle.
l Pay-as-you-go billing: This subscription mode is more flexible because the instance can be started and stopped anytime, and the mode supports billing for a duration of seconds. From start with Active to end with Delete, the bill is based on the actual usage time (accurate to the second).
How Do I Choose a Billing Mode?
The following table shows the differences between the two billing modes:
Billing Mode | Annual and Monthly Subscription | Pay-as-you-go |
Payment Methods | Prepaid and billed by your subscription cycle. | Postpaid and billed by service duration. |
Billing Cycle | Billed based on your subscription cycle. | Billed by hour. |
Instance Upgrade | Scale-up is supported. The new data takes effect after the ticket is completed. The service is not available when the ticket is being carried out. Scale-down is not supported. | Scale-up is supported. The new data takes effect after the ticket is completed. The service is not available when the ticket is being carried out. Changing Billing Mode | Can be changed to pay-as-you-go. | Can be changed to annual/monthly subscription. |
Change Specification | Instance type can be changed. | Instance type can be changed. |
Application Scenarios | This mode is ideal when you can estimate the resource usage period. The price is more favorable than that of the pay-as-you-go billing mode. This mode is recommended for long-term users. | This mode is ideal when you want more flexibility and control on resource usage. The service can be enabled and disabled anytime. |
The billing mode can be converted between subscription-based and pay-as-you-go. For specific operations, see Converting between Subscription-based and Pay-as-you-go.
What Are the CPU Specifications of Redis Instances?
The CPU specifications vary for different instances. You do not need to be concerned about CPU specifications and can only focus on memory specifications.
The following explains the core metrics:
l Query rate per second (QPS): Measures the capability of Redis to process query requests per second. A high QPS is a key metric for high-performance applications.
l Bandwidth: Refers to the data transfer rate between a Redis instance and other systems or applications. The size of bandwidth directly affects the efficiency of data transfer.
l Memory size: Redis primarily uses memory to store data, which is a crucial metric. You need to allocate enough memory to Redis to store data and meet performance requirements.
Why Can't I Create a Pay-as-you-go
Redis Instance when My Account Is Not in Arrears?
Please check if your account balance is less than RMB 100. If so, you cannot create a Kafka instance.
(1) Pre-deposit and post-payment: You can top up your eSurfing Cloud account and ensure that your account balance is not less than RMB 100. Payment is made according to your actual usage.
(2) Billing cycle: The service is charged by hour (based on Beijing time). The fees for one hour of service are charged if the service time is less than one hour. Fees are deducted from the cash balance of your account. We recommend you activate the service by hour to maximize cost effectiveness. The service is also charged by hour if you delete the instance in advance.
Can I Change the Configurations of a Pay-as-you-go Instance?
After you create a Redis instance, you can change the specifications or types. For example, you can change the single replica to dual replicas to meet higher reliability and stability requirements. For details, see Life Cycle Management - Type ChangeandExpansion.
Note:
This operation can be performed only when the DCS Redis instance is in the Running state and the instance type must be stand-alone, single-node cluster, or single-node cluster.
Is an Instance Automatically Renewed After Expiration?
In the annual/monthly billing mode, you can enable automatic renewal or initiate a renewal request later. For details, see Billing Center - Renewal Management - Automatic Renewal.
Note:
Resources will be frozen or released after expiration if they are not renewed in time. You can enable automatic renewal after purchasing an instance in annual/monthly billing mode. This way, the system will automatically renew resources before they expire.
Can I Change the Billing Mode?
Yes. For details, see Switchover Between Pay-as-you-go and Subscription-based Billing Modes.
Description
l Users using the pay-as-you-go billing mode can perform the Switch to Subscription-based operation on the instance to change the instance billing mode to an annual/monthly subscription.
l For an instance in annual/monthly subscription mode, you can change the billing mode to pay-as-you-go.
What Are the Supported Instance Types?
You can select active/standby instances, stand-alone instances, active/standby and stand-alone clusters. For details, see Instance Type.
The currently supported instance specifications include standard version - stand-alone, standard version - active/standby, cluster version - stand-alone, and cluster version - active/standby. You can select different specifications of instances based on your business scenarios. With the self-developed RDB+AOF persistence mechanism, all product series support data persistence, achieving high performance and data reliability.
How Can I Reactivate the Service if My Account Is in Arrears?
If you pay off the arrears within 15 days, the service will be activated automatically.
If you do not pay off the arrears within the required period, the resource enters a retention period. During this period, your cloud services cannot be accessed or used, but your stored cloud data will be retained.
l If you top up your account during the retention period, the system will automatically deduct the amount owed.
l If you still do not complete the top-up after the retention period has ended, your stored cloud data will be deleted and the resources will be released.
How Do I Unfreeze Resources When My Subscription Expires?
If you renew your subscription within 15 days after the expiration date, the new cycle is calculated from your renewal time.
Table Dealing with resources in arrears
Product Type | Retention Period | Resources in Arrears After Retention Period Ends |
Computing, storage, network, and database products | 15 days | The stored data will be deleted and the cloud resources will be released. |
Terminal products | 7 days | The stored data will be deleted and the cloud resources will be released. |
Can I Unsubscribe From an Instance?
If you want to unsubscribe from the resources, you can log in to eSurfing Cloud Management Center or the product console for unsubscription. eSurfing Cloud supports 7-day full refund, non-full refund, and unconditional refund. For details, see Unsubscription Rules in Billing Center.
Subject to compliance with the eSurfing Cloud unsubscription rules, you can unsubscribe from resources based on your needs.
