How do I change the login password in the operating system of a physical server?

We recommend that you reset the password in the console first. If this fails, you can change the login password in the operating system.

Here, a physical server running on Linux CentOS 7.5 is taken as an example:

1.         Connect the remote login tool or terminal to the physical server.

2.         Run the following command passwd root as the root user on the CLI.

3.         Enter a new password as instructed and press Enter for confirmation. Please check that the password will not be displayed on the screen.

4.         The system will ask you to enter the password again for confirmation. Enter the confirmed password and press Enter.

5.         If everything goes well, the system will display a message indicating that the password is successfully changed.

6.         Run the exit command to exit the current login status.

7.         Log in to the physical server again with the new password to ensure that the password is successfully changed.
