Physical Server

Region

2024-12-12 02:49:10

A region is a geographical area that contains one or more physical data centers. Regions are divided based on geographical location and network latency. Public services, such as Elastic Compute Service (ECS), Block Storage Service (BSS), Object Storage Service (OBS), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), elastic IP (EIP), and Image Management Service (IMA) are shared within the same region.

Different regions are completely isolated from each other in eSurfing Cloud to ensure maximum stability and fault tolerance between different regions. To reduce access latency and increase download speed, we recommend that you select the region nearest to your business needs.

l  Related Features

Networks in different regions are completely isolated. By default, cloud products in different regions cannot communicate with each other over Intranet.

Cloud products in different regions can communicate with each other through Internet IP addresses and VPNs.

l  How to Select a Region

In eSurfing Cloud, you cannot change a region after resources are created or purchased. Therefore, you must carefully take into account the following factors when selecting a region:

1.         Geographical location: The closer the user is to the resource deployment area, the lower the network latency, and the faster the access speed. We recommend that you select a region based on the latency requirement in your business scenarios.

·           The Chinese mainland: In general, we recommend that you select the data center closest to the region where your target users reside, which can further improve the access speed. If you use eSurfing Cloud to carry all your businesses, the Telecom network can guarantee your quick access among regions in the Chinese mainland.

·           Outside the Chinese mainland: Bandwidth available outside the Chinese mainland is mainly intended for users outside the Chinese mainland. If you are in the Chinese mainland, it may take a long latency to access these regions and this access mode is not recommended.

1.         Resource price and resource coverage: The resource specification and product coverage may differ depending on regions. Please select an appropriate region according to your business needs and budget.

2.         Relationship between products: If multiple eSurfing Cloud products are used together, it should be noted that Intranets cannot communicate with each other for cloud servers, object storage, and load balancing services in different regions.

3.         Business filing: If you are using a physical server as a Web server, you must complete business filing and purchase instances in the specified region. (The approval requirements of the communications administration in each province (or city) for business filing differ. The content publicized on the website of the local administration for business filing shall prevail.)

l  How to Select an Availability Zone

AZs can communicate with each other over the Intranet in the same region. Availability zones can be isolated from each other. That is, a fault in one availability zone does not affect the normal operation of other availability zones. Whether to place instances in the same availability zone depends on your application requirements for disaster recovery capability and network latency.

·       If your application requires high disaster recovery capability, we recommend that you deploy instances in different availability zones in the same region.

·       If your application requires low network latency between instances, we recommend that you create instances in the same availability zone.
