Overview of Private Image

A private image is an image customized according to user needs and is visible only to the user himself. A private image features high flexibility and can meet personalized needs.

Billing of Private Image

A system disk image is created in a physical server and is free of charge.
The system disk image is stored in the OBS bucket, but is not a private bucket and is invisible to users themselves. The image is managed and maintained by the image management service. Currently, the storage feature is free for users.

Creating a Private Image in a Physical Server

Scenario

You can create a private image using an existing physical server, and then create a physical server that has the same OS and application software as the existing physical server using this private image. This method saves you the time to configure the physical server again and improve the delivery efficiency.

Before You Begin

The physical server must be shut down.

Operation Steps

Log in to eSurfing Cloud and go to the console.
Click at the top of the console, and select a region. In this topic, **Hong Kong 2 **is selected.
In the left-side navigation pane, go to Computing > Physical Server Service to go to the physical server list.
Select the target physical server and go to More > Create Image in the Operation column.
Select System Disk Image as Image Type and select Physical Server as Image Source .

Note:

When creating a system disk image based on a physical server, we recommend that you comment out the mounted data disk in /etc/fstab before creating an image. Otherwise, when you create a physical server from the created private image, you will fail to locate the data disk and enter the Service mode. In this case, you must comment out again or delete the mounted data disk in fstab and restart the physical server. You can comment this configuration in the following steps:

vi /etc/fstab

Create an image and comment out /etc/fstab.

Locate the target physical server in the list, select Enterprise Project from the dropdown list, and enter Image Name .

Note:

The image name is 2 to 32 digits long. Only numbers, letters, and hyphen (-) are allowed. The name cannot start with a digit or a hyphen (-) or end with a hyphen (-).

You can describe the image in the Description text box to distinguish private image files.
Click Next , confirm that the private image configuration is correct, check I have read , and click Confirm Order .
Then, the page will automatically go to the private image list after 5 seconds. You can see that the status of your private image is Creating . The private image is successfully created when the status changes to Normal .

Subsequent Operations

If you want to create a physical server using this image, click Apply for Physical Server in the Operation column and follow the instructions to create a physical server. For more information, Physical Server User Guide - Instances: Create a Physical Server Using a Private Image.
