This topic describes the billing rules for EVS.

Billing Mode

EVS is charged in either pay-as-you-go or yearly/monthly subscription mode.

Billing Duration

Charging starts: The charging starts after an EVS disk is purchased, regardless of whether it is mounted to a server.

Charging stops: The charging stops when the EVS disk in yearly/monthly subscription mode is successfully unsubscribed. The charging stops when the EVS disk in pay-as-you-go mode is successfully deleted.

Remaining subscription cycle: From the time when the scaling up succeeds to the time when the EVS expires. Multiple charging information entrieswill be generated within the billing cycle (that is, one hour) during which the scaling up succeeds. The start time and end time of each charging information entry correspond to the validity time of the EVS capacity within the hour before and after scaling up.
Modify the EVS Disk Type	You can only upgrade the EVS disk specifications. Additional capacities need to be paid.Difference billing rule : Price difference in specifications * EVS capacity * remaining subscription cycle Price difference in specifications: Unit price of specifications after upgrade - unit price of specifications before upgrade. Remaining subscription cycle: From the time when the specifications changes successfully to the time when the EVS expires.	You can only upgrade the EVS disk specifications.Multiple charging information entrieswill be generated within the billing cycle (that is, one hour) during which the specifications changes successfully. The start time and the end time of each charging information entry correspond to the validity periods of the EVS specifications within the hour before and after change.

Renew

Unsubscribe

You can cancel your subscription to EVS as needed if unsubscription conditions are met. For unsubscription rules, see eSurfing Cloud Help Center Billing Center - Unsubscription Rules.

Expired

When a cloud resource in yearly/monthly subscription mode is about to expire, eSurfing Cloud will notify you by email notifications. If you want to continue to use the resource, you can contact your account manager to renew your subscription or renew your subscription in the console by yourself. If you do not actively renew your subscription or the automatic renewal fails although you have enabled automatic renewal, eSurfing Cloud will send you an email containing a resource expiration reminder and the resource enters the retention period, during which the service will be interrupted, but the data stored in the cloud resource will be retained. You can renew your subscription within the retention period and your cloud resource resumes normal operation after the subscription is renewed. The cloud resource will be released after the retention period and the business data cannot be restored.

Effect on Businesses When Cloud Resource Enters the Retention Period, the Subscription is Renewed within the Retention Period, and the Retention Period Expires

Cloud resource enters the retention period: The status of the EVS changes to "Expired", the access to the EVS is restricted, and the data stored in the EVS is retained. Within the retention period, the EVS will not perform snapshot creation based on the bound automatic EVS snapshot policy.
The subscription is renewed within the retention period: The status of the EVS is updated, the access to the EVS is unlimited, and you must check whether the resource is accessible.
The retention period expires: The EVS resource is destroyed and the data stored in the EVS is destroyed too.

Suggestions on Resource Usage

The normal use of the resource is affected when the EVS in the yearly/monthly subscription mode enters the retention period. To avoid the effect on your business and data due to expiration, we recommend that you activate Automatic Renewal or Changing EVS Billing Mode to "pay-as-you-go mode upon expiration" and pay attention to the relevant notifications such as resource expiration and renew your subscription in time.

Overdue Payments

If your account is in arrears, the cloud resources in the pay-as-you-go mode will be frozen and enter the retention period due to overdue payment. You will not be able to access and use the cloud resources normally. Within the retention period, the service will be interrupted, but the data stored in the cloud resources will be retained. The cloud resources are still charged in pay-as-you-go mode within the retention period, during which you can Top Up your account. In this case, the system will deduct the amount in arrears first. When you top up your account to settle up overdue bills, the cloud resources are unfrozen and the business resumes normal operation. If you fail to top up your account even after the retention period, the cloud resources are release and business data cannot be restored.

Effect on Businesses When Cloud Resource is Frozen or Unfrozen and the Retention Period Expires

Cloud resource is frozen: The status of the EVS changes to "Frozen", the access to the EVS is restricted, and the data stored in the EVS is retained. Within the retention period, the EVS will not perform snapshot creation based on the bound automatic EVS snapshot policy.
Cloud resource is unfrozen: The status of the EVS is updated, the access to the EVS resource is unlimited, and you must check whether the resource is accessible.
The retention period expires: The EVS resource is destroyed and the data stored in the EVS is destroyed too.

Suggestions on Resource Usage

The normal use of the resource is affected when the EVS in the pay-as-you-go mode enters the retention period. To avoid the effect on your business and data due to overdue payment, we recommend that you activate the account balance warning function and pay attention to account arrears and other relevant notifications so that you can top up your account timely to ensure that the account balance is sufficient.
