This topic describes how to create a backup for EVS and how to manage it.
Creating a VBS
Scenario
Back up an existing EVS in the EVS console.
Operation Steps
1. Log in to the console.
2. Click in the upper left corner of the console and select a region. In this topic, China (Hong Kong 2) is selected.
3. Click Storage > Elastic Volume Server to go to the EVS home page.
4. On the EVS page, locate the row that contains the EVS to be backed up, in Operation column, click Create Volume Backup Service. The Create Volume Backup Service page is displayed.
5. Select an appropriate repository and enterprise project, and select the EVS that you want to back up in the EVS list. After selecting the EVS, click the right arrow. The selected EVS is displayed in the selected EVS list area, as shown in the following figure. For disks that you do not want to back up in the selected EVS list area, you can check them and click the left arrow to delete them from the list area.
6. After confirming that the information about the EVS disks and repository that you want to back up is correct, configure the backup mode for the selected disks in the Backup Configuration module: Automatic Backup and Backup Now. After confirming the configuration, click Next.
l Automatic Backup: Select an existing backup policy from the Backup Policy drop-down list or click Create Policy on the right to create a new backup policy. After the backup is created, the selected EVS is bound to the backup policy and is periodically backed up based on the backup policy. Note: If the selected EVS has been bound to another backup policy, after you select a new backup policy, the EVS will be automatically unbound from the original backup policy and bound to the new backup policy.
l Backup Now: The selected EVS will be backed up immediately.
l If both backup modes are selected, the EVS is backed up once immediately and then the EVS is periodically backed up based on the backup policy.
7. On the VBS resource details page, confirm that the configuration is correct, click I have read and agree to Volume Backup Service (VBS) Service Agreement, and click Confirm Order. If the configuration information is incorrect, click the Previous to modify it.
8. Go back to the VBS Console page as instructed on the screen, and click Backup Copy to switch to the backup copy list. You can manually refresh the page to view the backup creation status. When the Status of the VBS copy turns to Available, the backup is successfully created.
