Modify the EVS Disk Type
This section describes how to modify the EVS disk type and the related limitations on modifying the EVS disk type.
Scenario
eSurfing Cloud provides a variety of EVS disk types to meet your storage performance and cost requirements in different scenarios. You can change the EVS disk type based on your business requirements. For example, if you choose Generic SSD when creating an EVS disk, but you require a higher IOPS later, you can change the EVS disk type to Ultra-High I/O.
Restriction and Limitations
l This feature is supported only in Guangxi-Nanning 23.
l Currently, only the following two disk type change paths are supported:
Source EVS Disk Type | Target EVS Disk Type That Can Be Changed |
General I/O | High I/O |
General Purpose SSD | Ultra high I/O |
l You can only change the disk type for data disks, not for the system disk.
l You cannot change from SATA/SAS disks to SSDs.
l You can only upgrade the EVS disk specifications.
l You cannot change the disk type for the EVS disks purchased with an ECS.
l Changing the EVS disk specifications does not affect the state of an EVS disk.
l The process of changing the EVS disk specifications is subject to the following limitations:
Canceling the change is not supported
A snapshot cannot be created
A backup cannot be created
Capacity expansion is not supported
Snapshot rollback is not supported
EVS disks cannot be attached or detached
Modifying the billing mode (switching between pay-as-you-go and yearly/monthly subscription) is not supported
Renewal, unsubscription, and deletion are not supported
Billing
After the EVS disk specifications is changed, the billing changes are as follows:
l The pay-as-you-go EVS disks is billed by the new EVS disk type after the change of specifications.
l The subscription-based EVS disks are re-billed based on the price difference of the EVS disks in the billing cycle.
Operation Steps
1. Log in to the console.
2. Click in the upper left corner of the console and select a region. In this topic, Guangxi-Nanning 23 is selected.
3. Click Storage > EVS to go the EVS home page.
4. In the EVS disk list, locate the EVS disk for which you want to change the disk type. In the Operation column, click More > Modify Disk Type to pop up the disk type modification window.
Note:
The Modify Disk Type button is grayed out in the following conditions:
l The disk type of the source EVS disk is not Common I/O or Generic SSD.
l The source EVS disk is a system disk.
l The source EVS disk is ordered with the ECS.
l The source EVS disk is in the unavailable state, such as expired or frozen.
5. In the pop-up window, select Modified Disk Type from the drop-down list. Please check the EVS disk type change path.
6. If the source EVS disk is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis, the Configuration Fee option on this window shows the pay-as-you-go fee after changing the disk type. Click OK to close the pop-up window. After the EVS disk type is changed, the disk will be continuously billed based on the price for the new disk type.
7. If the EVS disk is billed on a subscription basis, the Configuration Fee shows the fee that needs to be supplemented after changing the disk type. Click OK to enter the order details page. After the system indicates that the payment is successful on the page, the EVS disk type will be changed successfully.
8. Return to the EVS disk list, and check whether the EVS disk type is changed successfully.
Changing Billing Mode
This topic describe how to switch from yearly/monthly subscription to pay-as-you-go and from pay-as-you-go to yearly/monthly subscription.
Yearly/Monthly Subscription to Pay-As-You-Go
Scenario
Yearly/monthly subscription is a subscription-based prepaid billing mode and billed based on subscription period. This mode is applicable to scenarios where the resource usage cycle can be predicted.
If you need a more flexible billing mode and want to be charged based on the use duration of EVS, you can change your billing mode to the pay-as-you-go mode.
Restriction and Limitations
l Only customers who have passed real-name authentication can switch the billing mode from subscription-based to pay-as-you-go.
l You can switch to the pay-as-you-go mode upon expiration only when the EVS is in "Attached" or "Unattached" state.
l In the subscription-based billing mode, if the resource has not expired, you can switch it to pay-as-you-go, but the pay-as-you-go billing mode only takes effect when the current subscription duration ends.
l Resources purchased in packages are changed to the pay-as-you-go mode by a single change operation.
