Application Scenarios
The RDS-PostgreSQL instance supports upgrading the single instance of your database to a primary/standby instance. This feature improves the reliability of the instance while maintaining the resources of the original single instance. The primary/standby instances support automatic failover. With this feature, you can quickly complete service restoration and avoid the impact of service unavailability caused by the fault of a single point.
Precautions
Currently, RDS-PostgreSQL only supports upgrading single instances of database to primary/standby instances and does not support changing primary/standby instances to single instances.
Procedure
1. Log in to the eSurfing Cloud Portal.
2. Click Console and select the corresponding resource pool, such as East China 1.
3. Select RDS-PostgreSQL and click it to go to the Console Administration page.
4. On the List of Instances page, select the instance that requires a series upgrade, and click the More option in the Operation column.
5. Click Series Upgrade in the More option to jump to the Instance Type Upgrade page.
6. In the Instance Type Upgrade interface, you only need to select Backup AZ. After confirming that the Instance Type and Backup AZ information are correct, click Submit.
7. Jump to the Order Payment Details interface, confirm that the order information is correct, and click Pay Now.
8. After the order payment is completed, the system begins to perform a series of upgrade operations. You can see that the Status is Expanding in the List of Instances on the Console page. When the series upgrade of the instance is completed, refresh the page. Then, the Status displays Running and the Instance Type displays Primary/Standby.
