Add Parameter Group
Application Scenarios
When you order a database product, the system uses a default database parameter group template for your database instance.
To use your database parameter group, you need to add a new database parameter group. When you have successfully added a parameter group, you can use Apply to include most of the custom parameters and values in that group in the new database parameter group.
You can manage and configure your database instances using parameter configurations in the database parameter group.
Note
• You cannot modify the default parameter settings for database parameters. You must add a new parameter group to change the parameter setting values.
• After you modify and save the parameter group, if your database needs to apply the parameter group, you can simply click Apply, select Apply to Instance, and select whether to restart the database. This operation will not affect other unselected database instances.
• When you modify dynamic parameters and save the parameter group, you need to click Apply and select Apply to Instance. When you modify static parameters and save the parameter group, you need to click Apply, select Apply to Instance, and check Restart Database. If the Restart Database option is not checked, the static parameters will not take effect until you manually restart the instance.
• Make sure to back up the data for the database instance before setting parameters in the database parameter group. When modifying parameter values, check whether the parameters you set are appropriate. If you are uncertain about whether the parameters are appropriate or not, it is advisable to contact customer service personnel. This helps to mitigate the risk of database performance degradation and system instability. Before applying the parameters to the production database instance, you should test the parameter changes in a test database instance. This allows you to verify whether the parameter settings are appropriate based on their effectiveness and helps to minimize potential risks.
Procedure
1. Log in to the eSurfing Cloud Portal.
2. Click Console and select the corresponding resource pool, such as East China 1.
3. Select RDS-PostgreSQL and click it to go to the Console Administration page.
4. On the Parameter Group Management interface, click Add Parameter Group.
5. Select the corresponding database engine version in Database Engine, add the parameter group name in the Parameter Group Name input box, add a description of the parameter group (up to 255 characters) in the Description text box, and click OK.
6. After the system executes the Add Parameter Group command, the Parameter Group Management interface displays the parameter group information you added.
Comparison Parameter Group
Application Scenarios
