On DTS, Monitoring and Alarms is a common module, shared by data migration and data synchronization.
In this module, you can configure alarms and view the alarm list.
Alarm Settings
On the Alarm Settings page, you can view, add, modify, disable or enable, and delete alarm rules.
Viewing Alarm Rules
Log in to the DTS console. In the left-side navigation bar, choose Monitoring and Alarms > Alarm Settings. On the Alarm Settings page that appears, you can view the current alarm rule settings.
Note:
If one or more DTS task are already created, default alarm rules are automatically configured on the alarm settings page. Generally, you do not need to manually configure them.
Adding an Alarm Rule
On the Alarm Settings page, click Add Alarm Rule in the upper-right corner. Then, a pop-up window appears for you to add an alarm rule. In this pop-up window, configure the name of the alarm rule, alarm item, alarm level, email, and maximum number of alarm times.
Rule Name: required. You are not recommended to use duplicate rule names.
Alarm Item: required. It represents an available DTS alarm item that you can select, such as Abnormal migration task status. Currently, DTS supports three alarm items: Abnormal migration task status, Abnormal sync task status, and Sync latency too high.
Alarm Scope: required. This defines the scope of alarms. If you select User, it means the scope is all DTS instances. If you select Instance, it narrows the scope down to a specific instance. You can select the desired instance subsequently.
Alarm Level: required. You can select an alarm level from the three available options: Critical, Warning, and Notification.
Rule Description: required. It defines the specific rule of a threshold alarm. For the first text box, select an alarm interval, which is a multiple of the monitoring cycle. For example, you select the migration latency as the alarm item and select two consecutive monitoring cycles. In this case, an alarm will be sent if the migration latency exceeds the specified threshold over two consecutive monitoring cycles. Note that each monitoring cycle lasts 30 seconds. For the second text box, select the threshold type for comparison, such as the instantaneous value or average value. Currently, only the instantaneous value is supported. For the third text box, select a comparison operator from the following available options: <, <=, >, and >=. For the fourth text box, set the threshold. Currently, only the Sync latency too high alarm item is a DTS threshold alarm.
Email: optional. This field is currently unavailable. When an alarm rule is triggered, if the corresponding switch is turned on to send SMS/email notifications, alarm messages will be pushed to the phone or email bound during sign-up.
Max Alarm Times: required. It must be an integer greater than 0. It indicates the maximum number of times that alarm messages are sent to the bound phone or email when an alarm rule is triggered.
Note:
(1) You can create up to 20 alarm rules.
(2) When an alarm rule with Alarm Scope set to User exists, you cannot create another alarm rule with the same alarm item and Alarm Scope set to Instance.
(3) If two alarm rules have the same alarm item but different scopes, the alarm rule with Alarm Scope set to Instance takes effect.
(4) After an alarm rule is created successfully, the SMS/email notification switch is turned off by default. You need to turn it on if needed.
Modifying an Alarm Rule
On the Alarm Settings page, click the Modify button on the right side of each alarm rule in the list. Then, a pop-up window appears for you to modify the alarm rule. This pop-up window is similar to that for adding an alarm rule, and you can configure the settings in the same way.
Disabling or Enabling an Alarm Rule
On the Alarm Settings page, click the Disable button on the right side of each alarm rule in the list. In the pop-up window that appears, click OK to disable the alarm rule.
After the alarm rule disabled, the Disable button changes to Enable.
Deleting an Alarm Rule
On the Alarm Settings page, click the Delete button on the right side of each alarm rule in the list. In the pop-up window that appears, click OK to delete the alarm rule.
Viewing the Alarm List
Log in to the DTS console. In the left-side navigation bar, choose Monitoring and Alarms > Alarm List to go to the Alarm List page. When an alarm rule is triggered, its corresponding alarm log is displayed in the alarm list. You can filter alarm data by alarm item, type, and level.
Note:
(1) An alarm rule scan is triggered every 30 seconds. If an alarm rule is matched, its corresponding alarm log is displayed in the alarm list. If a log for the alarm rule already exists, the alarm time is updated.
(2) An alarm rule scan is triggered every 30 seconds. If an alarm rule is no longer matched, its corresponding alarm log is deleted from the alarm list, or the alarm time is no longer updated.
(3) If an alarm rule is deleted, its corresponding alarm log is also deleted from the alarm list, or the alarm time is no longer updated.
(4) If an alarm rule is deleted, its corresponding alarm log in the alarm list is no longer updated.
