This section lists best practices for common DTS application scenarios. In each best practice, we provide a detailed solution description and operation guide to help you configure data migration and synchronization.
Best practices:
| Module | Source Database Type | Destination Database Type | Reference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Data Migration | MySQL database from a third-party cloud | RDS for MySQL | Migrating Data from a Third-party Cloud PostgreSQL Database to an RDS PostgreSQL Database |
| On-premises MySQL database | RDS for MySQL | Migrating Data from an On-premises MySQL Database to an RDS MySQL Database | |
| PostgreSQL database from a third-party cloud | RDS for PostgreSQL | Migrating Data from a Third-party Cloud PostgreSQL Database to an RDS PostgreSQL Database | |
| On-premises PostgreSQL database | RDS for PostgreSQL | Synchronizing Data from an On-premises PostgreSQL Database to an RDS PostgreSQL Database |
Note: During public review, DTS supports only MySQL-to-MySQL data synchronization links. To migrate/synchronize data, you must purchase a DTS instance. The process of configuring a task for synchronizing data from a third-party MySQL database or an on-premises MySQL database to an RDS MySQL database is similar to the process of configuring a data migration task. You can refer to the migration task configuration description to configure a data synchronization task.
