Feature Overview

After you submit a URL-based prefetching task, CDN caches the corresponding content to CDN POPs in advance before any clients request the content to CDN. The first time a CDN POP receives a request for accessing the content from a client, the CDN POP returns the latest cached content to the client instead of requesting origin for the content. This feature is often used to trigger CDN POPs to prefetch content before the release of popular files and major promotion activities. This feature can help reduce workloads on your origin server and increase the CDN cache hit ratio, thus improve access experience of the first users after you release a popular file.

Procedure

Log in to the CDN console.
Go to the Refresh & Prefetching page.
Click Create Task .
Click URL Prefetch .
Follow the instructions to enter the URLs for which you want CDN POPs to prefetch content.
After you complete the configuration, click Submit .

Additional Considerations

The prefetch function can proactively warm up specified resources to CDN nodes, allowing direct cache hits for users' first visits.
Prefetching a large number of files may trigger high concurrent origin requests. If the origin's egress bandwidth is limited, it is recommended to perform prefetching in multiple smaller batches.
Each URL should be on a separate line (use line breaks) with a maximum of 50 lines. Pay attention to the case sensitivity of letters in URLs. Prefetch tasks generally take 5 to 30 minutes to take effect.
URL prefetching quota limit: 2000 URLs per day.
