Billing Mode

eSurfing Cloud CDN supports resource packages and the pay-as-you-go billing mode.

  • Pay-as-you-go (postpaid): You need to select a billing method based on your business requirements. You are charged for the number of resources that are used. This billing mode is suitable for scenarios in which resource usage fluctuates greatly and cannot be precisely estimated. In pay-as-you-go mode, the pay-by-traffic and pay-by-bandwidth billing methods are supported.

  • Resource package (prepaid): You need to purchase resource packages that meet your business requirements. During settlement, the billing system uses the resource packages to offset the resource usage fees. This billing mode is suitable for scenarios in which resource usage fluctuates slightly and the total resource usage can be estimated.

Pay-by-traffic

Traffic

You are billed based on the actual daily traffic.

You can purchase the product on the official website.

Large fluctuations and bandwidth spikes exist in the CDN traffic curve, and the daily bandwidth utilization falls below 30%.

Pay-by-bandwidth

Daily peak bandwidth

You are billed based on the daily peak bandwidth. A peak bandwidth value is collected every 5 minutes, so a total of 288 values are collected every day. The largest value among them is used as the daily peak bandwidth for billing.

You can purchase the product on the official website.

The CDN traffic curve is relatively flat, and the daily bandwidth utilization exceeds 30%.

Average daily peak bandwidth for the current month

Your bandwidth usage is billed in each calendar month. On each calendar day, a peak bandwidth value is collected every 5 minutes, and all valid peak bandwidth values are sorted in descending order. The largest value among them is used as the daily peak bandwidth for billing. At the end of the month, all daily peak bandwidth values for valid days are summed and averaged to generate the average daily peak bandwidth for the current month.

You can call technical support at (852)31000000 to purchase the service.

The monthly consumption amount exceeds or is estimated to exceed $15,000 USD.

Monthly peak bandwidth

In a calendar month, a bandwidth value is collected every 5 minutes, and all valid bandwidth values are sorted in descending order. The largest value among them is used as the monthly peak bandwidth billable for the current month.
For example, in a calendar month (30 days), each peak bandwidth value that the system collects is valid by default. A peak bandwidth value is collected every 5 minutes, so a total of 288 values are collected every day. The number of peak bandwidth values collected for the month is calculated as follows: 288 × 30 = 8,640. The system uses the largest value among them as the monthly peak bandwidth billable for the current month.

Monthly 95th percentile bandwidth

In a calendar month, a bandwidth value is collected every 5 minutes, and all valid bandwidth values are sorted in descending order. Then, the top 5% of these values are excluded. The largest value among the remaining values is used as the monthly 95th percentile bandwidth for billing.
All peak bandwidth values are sorted in descending order. The system removes the top 5% of 8,640 peak bandwidth values (432 peak bandwidth values) and uses the 433rd peak bandwidth value as the monthly 95th percentile bandwidth for billing.

Resource package
(Prepaid)

Traffic package

Traffic

You can purchase only CDN traffic packages with a one-off payment. The billing cycle of all traffic packages is one year.

You can purchase the product on the official website.

Traffic packages are more cost-effective than the pay-as-you-go billing mode.

Additional Considerations

  • Before you purchase a traffic package, make sure that you have purchased a CDN service that is billed by traffic. The traffic package takes precedence over the pay-by-traffic billing method and is first applied to offset usage fees. The overages are automatically billed based on the pay-by-traffic billing method and are included in the postpaid bill. If you want to use only traffic packages for billing, we recommend that you purchase traffic packages at the earliest opportunity based on the required services and business volume.

  • If you have purchased a pay-as-you-go CDN service before purchasing a traffic package, make sure that the billing method of the service is pay-by-traffic. If the billing method of the service is pay-by-bandwidth, the traffic package will be frozen after purchase. If your domain name is accelerated, you are actually billed based on the pay-by-peak-bandwidth billing method. The traffic package is not applied until the billing method of the service is switched back to pay-by-traffic.

  • If you want to purchase a traffic package with a large data transfer quota, you can call technical support at (852)31000000 to apply for coupons.Coupons can only be used to purchase traffic packages. Only one coupon can be used per purchase order.
