Background Information

In general, webpage display and interactivity are implemented based on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files. Redundant content often exists on a webpage. For example, comments and repeated empty space characters in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS files do not take effect on webpage display. If the redundant content is removed, the page can be more readable.

Feature Overview

eSurfing Cloud Content Delivery Network (CDN) offers the webpage optimization feature. After you enable this feature, CDN automatically removes redundant content from pages, such as comments and repeated empty space characters in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS files. This way, the file size is decreased, and the content delivery efficiency and page readability are improved.

Additional Considerations

If you enable MD5 verification for files on your origin server, do not enable the page optimization feature. If this feature is enabled, the MD5 value of a file is changed after CDN optimizes the page. In such a case, the MD5 value of the file optimized by CDN is inconsistent with the MD5 value of the corresponding file on your origin server.
If you enable GZIP or Brotli file compression for files on your origin server, the page optimization feature becomes invalid and CDN passes through compressed files from the origin server to clients.
It is not recommended to enable both the page optimization feature and the file compression feature at the same time, if you do so, the file compression will not take effect.

Procedure

Currently, the page optimization feature cannot be enabled on your own. If you need to enable this feature, please contact our customer support team via hotline (852)31000000 or email global.noc@chinatelecomglobal.com. This feature can only be manually enabled by the technical support team.
