Feature Overview

If multiple sites are hosted on your origin server and the hostname of the sites are different from acceleration domain names, you will have to configure an origin host. The origin host helps CDN to get the correct contents of target sites at your custom origin servers. Differences between an origin server and an origin host:

• An origin server represents the network address of your origin servers which allows us to locate the origin server on the Internet. CDN nodes send requests to the specified address to retrieve contents.

• An origin host refers to the value carried by the HOST header in the origin request and defines a specific site/host to which CDN requests for.

Procedure

Log in to the CDN console.
Go to Domain Management -> Domain List page.
On the Domain List page, find the target domain name, and click Edit in the Actions column.
Click Back-to-origin .
In the Origin Host field, enter the hostname of the target site.
Click OK to submit the settings.

Notes: The origin host helps CDN to get the correct contents of target sites at your custom origin servers. By default, the value of origin host is same as acceleration domain name.

Additional Considerations

• For a specific domain name (not wildcard domain), the origin host is the acceleration domain name by default.

• For a wildcard domain name, the origin host is the actual domain name in the requests by default. For example, if the wildcard domain name is *.esurfing.com and the actual domain name in the request is example.esurfing.com, the origin host is example.esurfing.com by default.

• When you specify a custom origin host, make sure that the hostname is properly configured on your origin server.
