Feature Overview

eSurfing Cloud Content Delivery Network (CDN) provides the bandwidth limits feature. You can set a bandwidth cap to prevent additional fees incurred during bandwidth spikes.

This feature allows you to restrict the total bandwidth on all edge nodes. You can set a time range within which you want to restrict the total bandwidth and specify a bandwidth control policy based on your business requirements. You can also specify that CDN throttles, denies, or redirects requests after the bandwidth cap is reached.

Application scenarios

Bandwidth spikes may occur. You want to control your CDN bandwidth fee if bandwidth spikes occur.
You need to strictly control your bandwidth costs, and you do not want user experience to be negatively affected. You can use this feature and set an appropriate throttling policy.

Additional Considerations

You can control the total bandwidth of multiple domain names. A domain name can be contained in only one bandwidth control task.
You cannot specify a wildcard domain name for bandwidth control.
The latency of bandwidth monitoring data collection is about 10 minutes. Therefore, throttling takes effect about 10 minutes after the total bandwidth reaches the bandwidth cap.
After the bandwidth limits function is enabled, if the bandwidth exceeds the limit value, the user experience may be affected by adopting the speed limit or denial policy, so please enable this function cautiously.

Currently, this feature cannot be configured on your own. If you need to configure this feature, please contact our customer support team via hotline (852)31000000 or email global.noc@chinatelecomglobal.com. This feature can only be manually configured by the technical support team.

Please provide the following information:

Parameter	Description
Bandwidth cap	Specify a total bandwidth cap based on your business requirements.
Time range	Specify a time range within which bandwidth control takes effect. You can specify all day or a fixed time range.
Control policy	Specify a policy to handle requests after the bandwidth cap is reached. You can throttle, deny, or redirect requests.
Control policy configuration	1. If you select to throttle requests, specify a bandwidth limit value for each connection. 2. If you select to deny requests, you can specify a custom status code to return. By default, the system returns the 403 status code. 3. If you select to redirect requests, specify a redirect status code and a redirect address.
