Background Information

When you add a domain name to eSurfing Cloud CDN in the console, you must verify the ownership of the domain name. You can choose one of the following methods to verify the ownership of your domain name.

Method 1: Verify by DNS Resolution

The following example shows how to verify the ownership of a domain name by adding a DNS record. www.ctcdn.cn is used as the domain name in this example.

Step 1 : Obtain the value of the TXT record

Go to Domain Management -> Domain List menu on CDN Console page, Click Add Domain Name button and fill in the domain need to be added, then you can see message underneath the Domain Name box. Click Enter Verfication Procedure and you will find the value of TXT record under the DNS Resolution Authentication tab, copy and save it.

Step 2: Add a Verification TXT Record at your authoritative DNS provider

You need add a verfication TXT record at your authoritative DSN provider by using the value of the TXT record obtained in Step 1.

For example:

Record Type	Record Name	Record Value
TXT	dnsverify	202207060000002jar4fb2hc79iwjq5cdid87t7rci1sgp33exuyvez4kwonobxt

Note: The record name should always be "dnsverify"

Step 3: Check DNS resolution result

The DNS record takes time to become effective. We recommend that you check the DNS resolution result 10 minutes after the TXT record is added.

Command used for Linux:

dig dnsverify.ctcdn.cn txt

Ensure that the DNS resolution result matches the value you obtained from eSurfing Cloud CDN Console.

Step 4: Submit Domain Ownership Verification

Go back to eSurfing Cloud CDN Console and Click Verify button on the Authenticate Domain Ownership pop-up window. After the ownership is verified, you can add the domain name normally.

Method 2: Verify by a Verfication File

The following example shows how to verify the ownership of a domain name by using a verification file. www.ctcdn.cn is used as the domain name in the example.

Step 1: Obtain the Verification File Information

Go to Domain Management -> Domain List menu on CDN Console page, Click Add Domain Name button and fill in the domain need to be added, then you can see message underneath the Domain Name box. Click Enter Verfication Procedure and you will find the File Name and File content under the Document Authentication tab, copy and save it.

Step 2: Create a Verification File on Origin Server

Create a file named dnsverify.txt (fixed name) in the root directory of the origin server of your primary domain name. And the content of the txt file should exactly match the value obtained from eSurfing Cloud CDN console in Step 1.

Step 3: Check the File Content

Download and check the content the verification file via a URL. For the file created for www.ctcdn.cn in this example, request URL http://ctcdn.cn/dnsverify.txt to download the verification file.

Step 4: Submit Domain Ownership Verification

Go back to eSurfing Cloud CDN Console and Click Verify button on the Authenticate Domain Ownership pop-up window. After the ownership is verified, you can add the domain name normally.
