Background Information

If a website no longer needs to be accelerated by eSurfing Cloud CDN due to business changes, you can disable the corresponding domain name or delete it in the CDN console. The following table describes the differences between Disable and Delete action.

Disable an accelerated domain name	When a domain name is disabled, you can see the status turns into Disabled. Within 3 days: eSurfing Cloud CDN change the CNAME record to redirect requests to origin. To avoid negative impacts on your business, eSurfing Cloud CDN still retains the configurations of the disabled domain on CDN POPs for seven days. During the seven-day period, CDN POPs can repond to end users' requests as before. After seven days, eSurfing Cloud CDN removes the domain configurations from CDN POPs. If a request is still sent to a CDN POP, the CDN POP returns the 403 status code. After 3 days: eSurfing Cloud CDN change the CNAME record to an unreachable address. Note: you can enable the domain again in the CDN console. Once the domain is enabled, the domain configurations will be propagated and deployed to CDN PoPs.
Delete an accelerated domain name	When a domain name is deleted, the configurations of the domain name are directly deleted from eSurfing Cloud CDN POPs. The CNAME address of the domain name becomes invalid. At this time, if domain requests are sent to CDN POPs, the status code 403 is returned.

When a domain name is deleted, the configurations of the domain name are directly deleted from eSurfing Cloud CDN POPs. The CNAME address of the domain name becomes invalid. At this time, if domain requests are sent to CDN POPs, the status code 403 is returned.

Additional Considerations

Before disabling an accelerated domain name, change the original DNS CNAME record that points to eSurfing Cloud CDN to another CNAME record or an A record to prevent service interruptions. Then, you can check whether certain amount of traffic is still generated in the Statistical Analysis module of the CDN console. If no traffic is generated for the domain name, you can proceed to disable the domain name.
You can only delete an accelerated domain name after the domain name is disabled. After deleting an accelerated domain name, you cannot re-enable it.

Procedure

Disable Domain Name

Log in to the CDN console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Domain Management .
Click Domain List , select the target domain name, and click More in the Actions column. The Disable button appears.
Click Disable , enter the reason, and click Confirm .

If you need to delete the disabled domain name, wait until the ticket of disabling the domain name is completed and proceed to delete it by performing the following steps.

Delete Domain Name

After the domain name is disabled, click More in the Actions column. The Delete button appears. Click Delete and in the pop-up window, enter the domain name that you want to delete and click Confirm .
