A bucket in Zettabyte Object Storage (ZOS) serves as a container for storing objects. Each object must be associated with a bucket.
Each bucket has a unique name for identification in ZOS. You can set and modify the attributes of a bucket to control its region, access permissions, lifecycle, etc. These attribute settings directly affect all objects within the bucket, allowing you to flexibly create different buckets to fulfill different management functions.
In ZOS, a bucket name must be globally unique and cannot be changed once set. That is, the name of a new bucket cannot duplicate that of an existing one. The region where a bucket resides cannot be changed once set. Permissions are required for operating on a bucket, safeguarding data security and preventing unauthorized access.
By default, an account can create up to 100 buckets. You can submit a ticket to expand the quota to a maximum of 1000 buckets.
A bucket created after September 30, 2023 is allowed to contain 400 million objects. Upon reaching this limit, creating new objects may be restricted.
For buckets created before September 30, 2023, we recommend maintaining a single-bucket quota of no more than 400 million objects. If you require an increase beyond this limit, please submit a ticket for technical support.
