Overview
Lifecycle management enables you to set up policies for the automatic and periodic deletion of files and fragments from a bucket. You can configure basic and custom policies to periodically transition the storage type for files within the bucket or delete expired files or fragments, reducing storage costs and streamlining data management.
Typical Scenario
You can configure lifecycle policies to automatically manage periodically uploaded log files and files with varying access frequencies. These policies facilitate the deletion of files upon expiration or transition files that are no longer frequently accessed to Infrequent Access (IA) storage or Archive storage.
Lifecycle policies also manage current and historical file versions and fragments, ensuring efficient utilization of storage space. By pre-defining lifecycle policies, you can easily manage files in a unified manner, efficiently utilizing storage resources and managing data.
Critical Operations
• Basic configuration: You can specify the scope of application for the policy. It can apply to the entire bucket or objects with specific prefixes.
• Deletion upon expiration: You can specify that the policy is executed in a specific number of days following the last update or on a particular date. The objects governed by the policy are then deleted accordingly.
• Transition upon expiration: You can specify that the policy is executed in a specific number of days following the last update or on a particular date. The objects governed by the policy are moved to IA or Archive storage accordingly.
• Expiration time: You can specify a specific number of days following the last update or on a particular date for the objects to be deleted or moved to another type of storage.
