· The ECS has been purchased on eSurfing Cloud, and the image is selected as Windows 2016 Data Center Edition operating system during the purchase process.

Background

eSurfing Cloud server currently only provides the Chinese version of Windows Server public image. If you need to use a different language version for working purpose, such as English, you can refer to this section to set a new preferred language for your ECS instance.

Procedure

Log in to the console.

Select a region.

Click Computing > Elastic Cloud Server to enter the cloud server page.

Remotely log in to the Windows ECS instance for which the preferred language of the operating system is to be set, for details, see Log in to Windows Elastic Cloud Server.

Open the PowerShell module.

Before proceeding, it is necessary to temporarily disable the WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) update source. Please run the following command:

Set-ItemProperty -Path 'HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU' -Name UseWUServer -Value 0

Restart-Service -Name wuauserv

Locate the Control Panel, click on Language > Add Language.

In the Add Language dialog box, select a language, such as English, and click Open below.

After entering the jump window, select a specific English region, select English (United kingdom), and click Add.

Once added, this language will be updated to the language list.

Select the newly added English and click Move Up to change the language priority. The following figure shows the status after it has been moved up:

Click the Options button on the right side of the selected language to enter the language options page. Click Download and Install Language Pack. If this link is not available, please wait another three minutes for the update.

At this point, the user can wait for the download and installation to complete.

Restart the cloud server in the ECS management console, as shown in the following figure:

Connect to the Windows instance again. The display language is changed to English.
