Cloud Disk Encryption Overview

EVS encryption refers to checking the encryption option when creating a cloud server (selecting system disk or data disk) or when creating a separate data disk. After creation, the data in the operating system of the cloud server will be automatically encrypted on the host where the EVS is located, without the need to build and maintain the key management infrastructure, which can easily protect the privacy and autonomy of data.

EVS encryption adopts the industry standard AES-256 encryption algorithm.

With the EVS encryption feature, the system will automatically encrypt the data transferred from the cloud server to the EVS and automatically decrypt it when reading the data. The encryption/decryption happens on the host where the cloud server is located. The performance of EVSs with encryption enabled will be lower than that of EVS without encryption enabled, and the degree of performance degradation varies depending on the upper layer application. However, the performance of cloud server is almost unchanged.
