Scenario

If a password is not set when creating the ECS, or the password is lost or expired, you can use the password in the Control Center by the following steps.

Prerequisites

· The ECS is in the Startup state.

· The qemu-guest-agent has been installed on the ECS before the password is lost or expired.

· The qemu-guest-agent of the ECS is running normally, otherwise the password reset function cannot be used. For Linux cloud server, execute systemctl status qemu-guest-agent to check the running status. For Windows cloud server, execute services.msc in cmd to enter the service window and check the running status.

Note

ECS created from public images have qemu-guest-agent installed by default.

Cloud servers that do not have qemu-guest-agent installed or are not running properly do not support password reset, you can set a new password for the cloud server by reinstalling it.

· DHCP cannot be disabled for the VPC network used by the ECS.

· The network of the ECS is normal.

· After resetting the password of ECS, it must be restarted for the new password to take effect.
