How can I select the right cloud server instance for my services?

You can perform the following steps to determine your actual business requirements and refer to Product Specifications to select the appropriate cloud server instance.

  • According to your actual business requirements:

  • Determine the type of your website.

  • Determine the average daily PV of your website.

  • Confirm the size of the homepage.

  • Confirm the data capacity.

You can adjust the instance configuration at any time as needed after purchasing the cloud sever.

What should I do if the resources are sold out when I purchase an instance?

If you find the resources are sold out when creating an instance, we suggest that you take the following actions:

  • Change the region

  • Change the AZ

  • Change the resource allocation

If no resources are still available after you adjust your requirements, wait for some time before you purchase an instance again. Instance resources are dynamic. If the resources are insufficient, eSurfing Cloud will replenish the resources as soon as possible, but it will take a certain amount of time.

What are the ARM CPU architecture and the x86 CPU architecture?

There are two major architectures for ECS instances, the x86 CPU architecture and the ARM CPU architecture.

  • x86 CPU Architecture
The x86 CPU architecture uses a complex instruction set computer (CISC) design. This means it supports a wide range of complex instructions that can execute several low-level hardware operations in different lengths. Due to the complexity of instructions, it takes quite a long time to execute each instruction.

  • ARM CPU Architecture
The ARM CPU architecture uses a reduced instruction set computer (RISC) design. RISC is a microprocessor designed to execute fewer types of computer instructions so that operations can be performed at a higher speed, making the structure of a computer simpler and more reasonable to run faster.
The ARM CPU architecture includes Kunpeng cloud servers and Phytium cloud servers. Hygon cloud servers adopt the X86 CPU architecture. Currently, you can purchase Kunpeng, Phytium, and Hygon cloud servers in the central enterprise Beijing 1 region, and you can purchase Kunpeng cloud servers in Foshan 3.

How do I choose a Windows or Linux OS image?

There is no difference between the Windows OSs and the Linux OSs. You can just choose the right OS for yourself. Please select a Windows or Linux OS based on your business requirements.

  • Windows 2012, Windows 2016, and Windows 2019 excel in terms of network optimization and system compatibility. We suggest that you select the highest version of Windows 2019.

  • Linux provides a variety of OS versions. Please select the right OS version based on your actual business requirements.

If you select the wrong OS when purchasing an ECS, you can change it through one-click reinstallation on the console.

  1. Select the ECS for which you want to change the OS and click 关机 in the upper left corner of the ECS list.

  2. In the Operation column of the ECS for which you want to change the OS, click More > 一键重装.

  3. On the interface that appears, select Image Type and Image that you want to replace.

  4. Set the login method. When reinstalling the OS, you can only use the password as the login credential.

  5. After the configuration is complete, click OK and submit an application to change the operating system.

  6. After submitting the application, the status of the ECS changes to Switching. When the status disappears, it means that the OS switchover is complete.

What should I do if I cannot view my ECS on the console?

If you cannot find the purchased instance on the console, there are several possible reasons:

  • The resource is not in the current region
If you do not switch to the region where the instance is located, the instance cannot be found. You can confirm this by switching regions at the top of the ECS instance page. If the instance is available in another region, you can switch to that destination region.

  • The instance expires or is released due to overdue payments
Instances that are overdue or have expired are completely released after a certain period of time, so they cannot be found on the console. If a resource is destroyed, it cannot be recovered.

  • The instance is refunded due to insufficient resources
If you cannot find the instance you just purchased on the console, it may have been refunded due to insufficient resources. Go to Order Management to confirm your refund information. After you confirm that the instance has been refunded, you can change the region or AZ and try to purchase an instance again.

What should I do if the cloud server fails to be activated after I have paid the order?

After you have paid the order, if you encounter a scenario where the virtual machine fails to be activated after paying the order, contact customer service at 400-810-9889 first to describe your order information and the problem. The customer service team will help you check the order status and try to resolve the issue.

If the cloud server activation failure is a result of technical problems, the customer service team will help you call technical support for more detailed assistance and troubleshooting.

If the cloud server activation failure is due to order payment, the customer service team can help you solve the payment problem, such as re-verifying your payment information or negotiating a refund with you.

How long does it take to apply for activating an ECS?

An ECS can usually be successfully activated within three minutes.

However, the specific waiting time for activation depends on multiple factors, such as the specifications, configured resources (such as EVS and EIP), and current system load of the ECS. If the ECS requires higher specifications and more configuration resources, then the activation time may be slightly longer. In addition, if the load in the current AZ is already high, the activation time may also be slightly prolonged.

If you have any problems when applying to activate an ECS, submit a ticket or contact customer service at 400-810-9889 for technical support. The customer service team will help you solve the problem and ensure that your ECS can be successfully activated and put into use.
