Scenario
Only data disks can be unmounted, system disks cannot.
You can unmount a data disk offline or online, which means a data disk can be unmounted when the cloud server to which the data disk is mounted is in the Running or Stopped state.
At present, there are two scenarios to unmount the EVS, one is from ECS, and the other is from physical server.
· Elastic cloud server: Users can unmount disks from the ECS. This section describes how to unmount disks from the ECS.
· Physical server: Currently, SCSI type disks and FCSAN type disks are supported to be mounted on the physical server as data disks, and the data disks can be unmounted when the physical server is in the Shutdown or Running state. For details, see Unmount the Data Disk from Physical Server.
Prerequisites
· Before unmounting the EVS that has been mounted to the Windows cloud server, make sure that no program is reading or writing to that EVS. Otherwise, it may cause data loss or unmount failure.
· Before unmounting the EVS that has been mounted to the Linux cloud server, log in to the cloud server first, execute the umount command, and make sure that no program is reading or writing to that EVS. Otherwise, it may cause data loss or unmount failure.
Procedure
Users can unmount the EVS in two ways:
· Unmount via EVS Management Console
· Unmount via ECS Management Console
Unmount via EVS Management Console
1. Log in to the console.
2. Click in the upper left corner of the control center to select a region, here we select East China 1.
3. Click Storage > EVS to go to the EVS homepage.
4. On the EVS homepage, click Action > Unmount in the row where the EVS is to be unmounted. The Unmount EVS dialog box will pop up. Click OK to unmount the EVS.
1. Return to the EVS list, the EVS status is Unmounting, which means that the EVS is in the process of being unmounted from the cloud server. When the status of EVS changes to Unmounted, the EVS is successfully unmounted.
Unmount via ECS Management Console
1. Log in to the console.
2. Click in the upper left corner of the control center to select a region, here we select East China 1.
3. Click to select Computing > Elastic Cloud Server to enter the cloud server list page.
4. Click the name of the Elastic Cloud Server that you want to unmount the EVS to enter the Elastic Cloud Server details page.
5. Click the EVS tab at the bottom of the details page to view the details of all EVSs under the current cloud server. Click Action > Unmount in the row where the EVS is to be unmounted, the Unmount EVS dialog box will pop up, and then click OK to unmount the EVS.
Note: If the shared EVS is mounted to more than one cloud server at the same time, it will only be unmounted from one of the cloud servers, and the status of EVS will still be Mounted after successful unmounting. Only when the shared EVS has been successfully unmounted from all the cloud servers, the status will change to Unmounted.
