Scenario
After shutdown, the state of Elastic Cloud Server switches from Running to Shutdown for maintenance.
Tips for Use
· Pay-as-you-go ECS supports two billing modes: Economic Shutdown and Normal Shutdown (Economic Shutdown is currently only supported by some resource pools).
· In Economic Shutdown mode, computing resources (vCPU, memory, GPU) are no longer charged, while other charged resources are billed normally, such as system disks, data disks, bandwidth, and restarting will not cause changes to the Intranet IP or Elastic IP address.
· Since the computing resources are reclaimed, the restart may fail due to insufficient resources. You can try to restart later or change to other specifications. If there are no available resources, the cloud server may never be able to start up.
· This is a transitional stage where there is no charge for both Economic Shutdown and Normal Shutdown, and charges are expected to be introduced for Normal Shutdown in 2024.
· Economic Shutdown is not supported in the following scenarios:
o The cloud server activated adopts Subscription-based billing mode
o The cloud server activated is a local disk cloud server
o The cloud server that has been added to the server group
o The cloud server that has been added to the cloud server snapshot and cloud server backup policy
Procedure
1. Log in to the console.
2. Click at the top of Control Center, and select Region.
3. Click Service List in the left navigation bar, select Computing > Elastic Cloud Server.
4. Shut down the cloud server according to actual needs.
(1) Start single cloud server: In the cloud server list, select the cloud server that needs to start up, and click the Startup button in the upper left corner of the cloud server list.
(2) Start multiple cloud servers: In the cloud server list, select multiple cloud servers that need to start up, and click the Startup button in the upper left corner of the cloud server list.
5. In the Shutdown pop-up window, set the shutdown method and mode, and make sure the operation is correct, click OK if no error.
Settings | Description |
Shutdown Method | Shutdown: Normal shutdown process. However, to avoid shutdown failure, when you choose to shut down, the normal shutdown timeout will automatically force shutdown. |
Shutdown Mode | Normal Shutdown Mode: Computing, storage, and network resources are retained after normal shutdown. At present, computing resources are not charged after shutdown, while storage and network resources continue to be charged. It is expected that computing, network, and storage resources will all be charged after normal shutdown in 2024. |
Note:
Note the description of the cloud server status: If the cloud server stays in an intermediate state for more than 30 minutes (e.g. Starting, Stopping, Restarting), it indicates that an exception may occur. In this case, submit a ticket to seek further processing.
